The food is really good but the service could be improved, the wait staff is very distant and the guy that runs it seems almost rude.
Enjoy the Authentic Indian veg food. It also have more options for vegetarians in the city. Love the taste every time. Keep it up
Great food, Great services. Will definitely be going back.
The food is amazing, service not so much, it's a little crowded but overall worth it.
Taj would do well to loose the "western" part of their business. Their food is not authentic and is hardly even Indian. I would love to see a restaurant in Grande Prairie that specializes in Indian food but this is not that place. Their attempt to widen their customer base by including western food seemed to damage they're ability to serve Indian food. The result of this is a watered down version of either. The service is also dismal but that's not the reason for 1 star.
I recommend the buffet for first time patrons. It allows you to sample a wide variety of South Asian dishes. They range from mild to Nice Spicey. Beverages have free refills, and the desert selection changes daily. The food is well prepared and I'd delicious.
Nice experience. Very basic and messy (somewhat disappointing/ compared to other cities) buffet though. Will have to try off the menu to give a more accurate review of food and service as there was very little selection in food & really no service w/ the buffet.
I'm just wondering thoughis that a hair sticking out of the food at the bottom of the plate though? In picture #2?
It was a pathetic & horrible experience at Taj Grill. I Waited for 1 hours & 20 minutes & even after that they gave the items other than the one we ordered . No manager came to even apologise for the mistakes. They forgot two items & no regrets for the mistakes. the Food was horrible & service gruesome poor. You disappointed me Taj Grill.
I have never written a review but after tonights poor dinning experience I felt compelled to write one. This was not my first but second terrible experience. Taj, please read this review.
I had high hopes for this place after I heard Chef Ben was the chef in the kitchen. I had the opportunity to try some of his meals while he was at Evergreen park. Sadly, I'm not sure if he was the chef in today. This by far was the worst indian food I have ever had and for $20 I truly contemplated just walking out. In point form this was my experience at the dinner buffet:
1) Pakoras were very salty. There was also a lingering and pungent taste of chaat masala or amchoor powder, which is not used to make pakoras.
2) The Chana Masala had NO masala. It contained a very watery "sauce" and the chickpeas were evidently over cooked.
3) The Naan did not appear or tasted like it was cooked in a tandoor, which is a traditional clay oven used to cook elegant and delicious indian food. I am almost certain the naan was store bought and frozen.
4) The tandoori chicken was done poorly and had no char marks, smell or flavor of being cooked in a tandoor. After this experience I doubt Taj has a tandoor.
5) The buffet had an item called gobi masala which once again had no masala. Masala is often a rich blend of spices that enriches the taste of your food. Simply adding mushroom and green beans and a few spices isn't "masala".
I'm sorry but at $20 a pop for a dinner buffet you have to do better.
For anyone wanting a true traditional experience of Indian cuisine, I highly recommend going to Khazana in Edmonton. It's sad we are limited to one indian restaurant representing indian cusine in Grande Prairie, but you will not regret the cost, atmosphere, fine service, and elegantly delicious food at Khazana.
I was hoping for more Indian dishes in the buffet, but service was good and the Naan was always fresh!
After driving for 6 hrs we wanted a great place to eat and Indian food. The food was superb we had the buffet which was $13.99. Very fresh, hot tasty food. The ladies brought us fresh Nan bread in a basket. The gentlemen (not sure if owner) was very polite and asked us how everything was . The buffet is every night starting at 4:30 pm. We will be back . Thanks
