I'm from Melbourne and I've found it so hard to find delicious food here. It's actually really disheartening how much I've been paying to eat mediocre food, BUT Sumac, you've given me hope for Montreal! I can actually taste the heart in your food. I had the aubergine pita today and it was the best thing I've eaten in this city so far. Made my day! So freaking good! Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you for respecting food and serving great quality, super delicious meals in generous portions at an extremely reasonable price!

This was a great place to get to know for the first time. Cool atmosphere and the shish taouk was the best I've ever had. Have the house lemonade cocktail, will do so again. Fresh as can be, nothing we had we wouldn't order again. Worth going through all the construction to get to.

We came in for lunch : Food was fresh and tasty, very authentic home cooking - but way too expensive for a plate of shawarma & one of falafel. Add one beer and one Diet Coke and you pay 47$ before tip.

The food was amazeballs and worth the price (which i think is cheap compared to other places), quick service (from entering the place to receiving our meals was about 15mins on a Saturday), friendly staff, i will return no questions asked
