Great ambience and atmosphere but ultimately, you come for the food and I find it a bit overpriced for what it is. We ordered the Five Kinds "Chef's Choice" omakase which was delicious and fresh. Everything else was good but nothing was "to die for".

Irashaimase! Great izakaya place, the flexible type of place you'd go with one or several friends for some delicious appetizer foods and beers, sake or cocktails. Staff is friendly and high energy and convey the expected beat of the place.
The whole staffs comes to sing Happy birthday to you, the perfect trap for your shy friends!

My absolute favourite place in Vancouver. Vibrant atmosphere and top notch service. Staff will treat you with genuine friendliness and I have never been disappointed by the service. Price isn't the lowest, but they do use quality ingredients and their food simply tastes great. Worth every cent. Been there many times, and will never hesitate to go again.

Suika is the perfect place to celebrate a birthday for someone under 50 as they are excellent at accommodating large groups. The food is good and the dishes are meant for sharing. The drinks are yummy too. On busy nights (which is most nights) they give you a time limit so don't expect a stretched out dinner. The owner originally started out at Guu so it's that kind of style but a little more colourful. The dishes are a little more sophisticated, but not as sophisticated as Kingyo (also the same owner). I think this is more of a group dining place.

It's a comfortable place to eat and have a drink. But I wouldn't say the food is great compare to others though. The price is really for the hip atmosphere.

Beware not your traditional Japanese place. Nice people but really limited sushi selections (only 3). Flavorless tapas-type plates and $3.50 for a small bowl of rice? Dinner plates do not come with side salad or rice. Really? Also costantly burning something in kitchen always smokey in restaurant.

Love this place! The decor is so colourful and the selection of fusion food is pretty awesome! My friend had her birthday here and the staffs were super friendly. The vibe and amazing food makes it a perfect night out for some nice drinks.

Really tasty food and a fun atmosphere. Their interpretation of the ceaser (drink) is one of the most novel and best that I've had in Vancouver. Great staff too, Dan the manager especially is a good guy.

Looks good from outside and smells good. But inside is too noisy. I can't even chat with my friend. The food does not taste good either. Probably I didn't choose the right one. The appetizer ebi mayo was too spicy Neither of us finished our rice bowl.

Pros: Great food for a great price. Fun atmosphere with the open kitchen style.

Cons: Very loud - the acoustics are really bad so it is very difficult to hold a conversation. The servers are all very nice, but it is sometimes difficult to communicate due to language barriers and it would have been nice to clarify what the food options were because the menu wasn't the easiest to follow.

Friendly service and delicious food! Great place for Japanese tapas. Favorites of the the night were the Tontoro, Roast Beef and Octopus but there were no bad dishes! Everyone was very nice and the place wasn't very packed for a Sunday night (super bowl might have had something to do with this).

Good food and atmosphere. Try the dynamic steak but make sure you're starving or have company that you can share it with. Lots of specials that changes regularly makes you want to keep going back for an experience. Lunch is good too!

Have some interesting fusion dishes. Go for the atmosphere and appetizer size foods. The atmosphere is friendly and boisterous. If you are looking for a quiet dining restaurant then stay away. Great place for friends to have a drink and some Japanese fusion appetizers and chat away with no worries of being loud.
