Expensive
A nice store with a lot of employees and good service! Definitely a great variety of goods and tools.
Good selection of various items for such a small place. Service is poor. Check out Canadian Tire in Canmore instead.
Working at the Banff Home Hardware must be a grueling task because some of the employees act as if they are in prison. Over the past 8 years I've needed to visit the store on many occasions, the older male employees have been nothing more than miserable. They make the whole experience as uninviting as humanly possible. From giving glaring looks while entering the store to extremely short, almost unhelpful answers to inquiries. One time I was brave enough to ask one of them "How it was going?" I probably shouldn't have. The only response this ill-tempered gentleman was able to muster was a frown, no words. I felt bad for even asking.
The store has the bare essentials but most of what you would need, as to be expected from a small store in a small town. If you have the means to drive to Canmore (the next town) please do. You would hate to provoke the misery of theses poor souls that have to work at the Banff location. Unless it's another sight you would like to see on your family vacation: "The grumpiest men on earth!"
We opened up a box to look at a bbq and the old grumpy worker stood in front of us with his arms crossed. I asked "can i do something for you?". He scowled at me, "just making sure everything goes back in the box". Well we were actually planning on putting it back in the box like most people would, but when the rudest hardware clerk in canada is staring us down, we decided to let him pack it back away.
