Just returned home after a marathon dining experience at Socrates in Maple Ridge. We were seated almost immediately after arriving and commented that we beat the rush as 4 tables were quickly seated right after us. Bit of a wait to order drinks did not bother my wife and I as we had plenty to catch up on after our busy days. Entrees were ordered as soon as the drinks arrived and then the waiting began! One by one each of the tables that were seated after us was served their dinners. My wife noticed that the couple seated across from us had received the exact same entrees that we ordered, the lightbulb went on when the gentleman complained that his wife had not received the addition shrimp she had ordered. I called over the manager and asked that he check on our dinner, after a few moments of hustling around with our waitress we could see them consult their ordering terminal and we knew they had messed up the orders! Twenty minutes later our order arrived with an apology for the wait but no acknowledgement of the error, the manager's response to my statement of "long time to wait for a meal" was a sorry and a quick turn of his back. The waitress did state that she would like to treat us to desert, we declined as she made it sound like she would have to buy our deserts. Not impressed by the service and disappointed the Manager would not step up to help his waitress, not even a thank you for visiting as he stepped out of his brand new Mercedes. We will not be back and suggest you try another local eatery before you help this guy pay of his new ride.

Great food but the service sucks throwing food at my kid and not very friendly and the other server is crying because she has 6 tables to take care of

Had dinner there the other night with my husband. We both had the lamb skewers. They wonderful. Service was great. Recommend this restaurant!!

First time there and had a great experience. only had take out but the server still managed to make a positive impression. The manager or owner was friendly and accommodating as well. The food was good quality and well prepared.

I called to make a reservation.
The woman who answered interrupted me mid sentence when I was asking my question to put me on hold.
Then I started asking again and got interrupted again before getting to the reservation part and was asked if this was for pickup or order.
Then I started again and stuttered on the reservation time because I stutter. I heard a phone ring in the background and was asked/told to be on hold. I didn't have time to answer before being put on hold.
A place with this poor of phone service does not deserve my business.response / report this review -

The food is great but the manager is horrible. I won't go back. He pushed the waitress aside to berate me in front of customers. Customers put their forks down and were staring at him. I was wrong and he was going to make sure the whole restaurant knew this. Good for you manager the 1 cent worth of pita not included in my bag loses you big time. Get rid of this guy never in my life have I met such a blowhard he will ruin your business if you don't keep him in the back away from people.

Do not bother coming acer 8:45, despite them saying own till 11 their ornery looking owner or manager or whatever he is, will make the waitress run up and turn the OPEN sigh off as you reach for the door. Do not post your hours on line if you are not going to stick to it. This was the third visit we were gonna make in our last 5 moths. Never again!

My husband and I shared one of the platters for two, it was very tasty and we had to take some home! About a week later we took our son's family in, and we all enjoyed our meals. Portion sizes are big! Good food good service! We are going again this Saturday night with another couple. Love the decor, and happy that music is low so you can chat with people easily at your table.

I don't eat in the restaurant as much as I would like but I get take out from Socrates often. Probably weekly. The team here is always kind and prompt to get orders ready. I also love that they are open past 9pm With a busy life away from Maple Ridge it's not practical for me to be eating any earlier some days and I am not a "fast-food" eater. Socrates is what I look forward to on my later work days. The food is amazing -- chicken, beef Lamb. I've tried it all. It's a struggle to decide some nights. Prawn appetizer is a must 🙌🏼
