TRAINS 🚂 🚊 I LOVE TRAINS!!!!! And there’s trains that drive right beside here like every 15 minuets!!!! It’s awesome! Also a great history lesson for children of all ages! (Or children at heart like me!)
We drove from Lake Louise just to visit the museum. We encoutered passenger and container trains many times just outside the museum. The displays are appealing and informative. We got many train-related products, books and DVDs. We were also given specific directions to get to the Last Spike. Totally worth it!!!
Lots to look at and the ability to get into the cars. It's a quicker stop as it takes about 2 hours to do everything.
Train simulated is a good time too.
You may even get stuck behind a train on the way out.
Friendly staff. The layout is nicely though out with ample space perfect for kids. Is great place to stop in Revelstoke to take a break from driving .
Best railway museum I have ever been to. Great variety of displays and rolling stock. Lovely steam engine and passage cars inside that are fully restored.
Self guided tour. An amazing amount of history packed into the building - with lots to read and lots of art to look at upstairs as well. It's interesting to have historical trains set up for visitors to go inside and look. A very reasonable price as well, $10 for several hours worth of material if you're interested.
The employees greeted us with indifferent attitude but rather warm and welcoming to other visitors. History about Chinese workers hidden on second floor. Way to honour the history! Attached photo shows a display of the Chinese Legacy in the last place you would look the washroom!
It was informative and had a lot of signs to read. But it was a self guided tour, and the experience may have been better with someone in the museum guiding you through some of the bigger exhibits. A few things were taped off and there wasn't very much interactiveness, just a lot of signs. I learned a lot and enjoyed myself. But the experience could be made so much better.
Decent railway museum. Worth a visit if you like trains, or want to learn about local history. Revelstoke is a railroad town.
Completely exceeded expectations. Our toddler was so excited he could go into a train car, sit in a caboose, and go into a snowplow. Nice building, excellent displays!
I really enjoyed this. Lots of history, it's anazing the manpower required to maintain rail service back then.
What great place take your family to. We were traveling through Canada and stopped here with the family. My little boy loves trails so he was excitied beyond belief. They have toy trains there to play with and several walk through trails you look at. Definately give them a look see if you are in the area.
I did not expect to be so entertained by trains. We came here to give my two young sons a break on the long drive between Calgary and Vancouver. It was so much fun for them to run around, climbing in and out of the trains. Two trains are indoors, quite a few more outside. There is an excellent play area for kids with puzzles, games, dress up, coloring sheets, and a wooden train table. The signs are informative, telling interesting and emotional stories about the men who worked on the railroads. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
