The Regional Fertility Program including the Diagnostic Semen Laboratory and RFP Pharmacy are closed during the Christmas holiday season between December 25th to January 1, 2019. Please contact the RFP clinic for further information regarding closure dates.
If it is an emergency, please call the Foothills Medical Centre switchboard at 403-944-1110 and ask for the fertility doctor on call to be paged.
Regular hours resume January 2, 2019.

#FertilityFriday Q. What are the pregnancy success rates when using a vitrified donor egg? A: Success rates are very favourable. At the Regional Fertility Program, 114 vitrified donor egg IVF cycles were completed in 2016 and these resulted in a clinical pregnancy rate of 57% per embryo transferred on day five. 50% of patients in this program have surplus embryos frozen with a ~50% pregnancy rate with these frozen embryos thus significantly increasing the overall pregnancy rate.
Keep in mind that as with all assisted reproductive treatments there is no guarantee for a successful pregnancy or a normal healthy baby. The use of vitrified eggs is a new treatment and success rates, as well as the long-time outcomes of babies conceived in this way, will not be fully known for many years. All risks associated with a traditional IVF cycle apply when using vitrified donor eggs, such as: ● failure of the eggs to survive warming, ● failure of the eggs to fertilize, ● failure of the fertilized eggs to develop into embryos, ● failure of the embryos to implant and grow in the uterus, and ● miscarriage of the early pregnancy can also occur as it can in any pregnancy.

What are the known risks of the planned procedures for me, for my spouse or partner, for a donor (if this applies), and for any children born as a result? c. What is the full cost? Is any of it covered by my province's health care plan, employee benefits, or private health insurance plan? d. Taking into consideration my age, diagnosis, and treatment, what are my chances of becoming pregnant? e. If this procedure does not work, what would you suggest next?

#FertilityFriday Q: Why are donor eggs needed at times?
A: There are a variety of factors that may lead a physician at the Regional Fertility Program to recommend using a donor egg in order to achieve conception. If a known egg donor is not available, patients do have the option to purchase a vitrified (frozen) egg from an egg bank in the United States. Some common reasons for using vitrified eggs include: ● Women who have had their ovaries removed due to disease ● Women who have had medical treatments (for example for cancer) which has damaged the ovaries resulting in infertility ● Women who were born without normally functioning ovaries ● Women who have had early menopause or are of advanced reproductive age ● Women who carry a genetic disease that would result in having genetically abnormal children ● Same sex couples wishing to have children

Worst experience I have ever had - we have previous success with a clinic in Vancouver - but this place is only motivated my money and could give a shit about the people sitting in front of them.
I am disputing a $200 storage fee that I been trying to destroy for months , they have now sent it to collections and stated there’s nothing they can do.
I was hung up on and it takes days for a return phone call
I now have to pay $200 to a collection company to just make this experience go away -

I’m really upset right now that my sister in in tears after her appointment at this clinic. You have zero right to humiliate and make women feel bad in an already bad situation. Your lack of compassion and judge mental attitudes are gross.

All this clinic is interested in is IVF. I have met more couples who have had bad experiences with the clinic then good and I wish more people would come forward. This clinic will blindly give their patients unexplained infertility diagnosis and be completely uninterested in helping you get pregnant unless you do IVF. My IVF experience went badly, once I paid the thousands of dollars I was treated like a number and not monitored well, ultimately I had a bad outcome and was never given a good explanation, they told me that I needed to do another IVF. They will throw percentages at you and constantly talk about statistics but will not treat the initial cause of your problem, their success rates listed on their website and those given to you during IVF orientation are not CFAS compliant, their are only three clinics in Canada that share their CFAS stats and this clinic is not one of them. Do not go to this clinic just because you live in Calgary. If you check the doctors credentials they are the bare minimum. Please, if your family doctor or gynaecologist refers you to this clinic do not commit with them, unfortunately because this is a private clinic they do not have to be accountable for patient care or how well they perform, having only one clinic in a city is a bad thing because without competition they are free to put you through multiple rounds of IVF all along making you believe that is the only option. I have wasted years at this clinic, those years could of been used by me seeking better help at a more reputable clinic with a more caring and advanced doctor and I would probably have a child by now.

Amazing experience working with Dr. Paterson! Turned what could have been a very daunting IVF experience into a much easier to handle (and successful) situation. Surprisingly we also had Dr. O’Keane deliver our IVF baby by c-section, an experience he also made much more pleasant for my anxious self! How do you say thanks enough to a team who brought our baby into the world?

I had the the pleasure of working with the regional fertility clinic a few years back. Everyone there was absolutely fantastic! They helped me sort out my fertility issues. Shortly after I became pregnant! I lost the pregnancy and they were so kind and helpful through a difficult time. Then again within the year I became pregnant and now have a beautiful little lady who blessed our little family! Thank you so much Dr. Min! �
