A shop filled with beautiful fabrics. Unfortunately they are jammed in floor to ceiling and in some places three bolts deep. Half the items do not have prices and you have to ask a sales person. Touching or moving bolts is frowned upon as the precarious piles are likely to come tumbling down. If you don’t know exactly what you want don’t go. A frustrating experience every time that leaves me feeling like I’m being watched (I’m choosing to believe their wish is to be helpful).

Lots of stock. Just wish it was easier to see everything without moving stacks of fabric. Nice and bright choices as well as more subdued. Accuquilt products as well. Wool felt selection as well as jacquard woven ribbon and many books.

Over the years I have taken numerous classes here. Dee is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced instructors , and inspires you to try new projects. I now live in Phoenix AZ. And whenever I come to Calgary, a visit to Out of Hand is at the top of my list, because there is not another store like it in Phoenix. Love it, and I can always count on great service and a warm welcome.

My favorite quilting shop in Calgary so far! While it's very small (leave the stroller or walker at home), the great location and huge assortment of fabric make up for that. Everyone in the store was very kind to my 3 yr old. Because of the size of the store and amount of fabric, it can feel a bit cluttered, but there are many treasures to be found. They carry lots of modern fabrics including designers like Lizzy House, Heather Ross and Denyse Schmidt. They carry fabrics that I haven't found in other stores in Calgary, Cochrane or Canmore.

Had my first visit to this lovely fabric store! I found the ladies very helpful and friendly. The selection was plentiful and I had a great time just looking at it all. It is very full and not a store that I would probably take my kids to. I found the quilt set I was looking for and a few extras. I am so glad someone mentioned this little gem to me as I had no idea they were even there. I will definitely be back soon!

I am a stay-at-home mom of small children who likes to craft and sew. I happened to be in the area so popped in with my two little ones to browse. I had full intentions of buying if something struck my fancy. However my children and I were treated extremely rudely and glared at the entire time while in the store. My youngest was in a small stroller and she touched nothing. My four year old was delighted to look at the Halloween fabric and share with me what he was seeing. He loved the store with so much beautiful fabric to look at but it was clear from the owner and staff's demeanor that they had an intense dislike for both children and browsers. I would recommend spending your money at a store which values potential customers. Not this one.
