Depuis Fort Frances, North Bay et Timmins, ce groupe a offert des idées précieuses dans des domaines tels que la capacité de recherche dans le Nord ontarien, les rapports des Premières Nations aux bailleurs de fonds, le tourisme francophone. Northern Policy Institute recognizes that travel and distance can be a barrier to event participation and we wish to do everything we can to overcome that. This year we are pleased to announce that we have funds available to cover the registration, travel and accommodation costs for two State of the North Conference attendees. The North is facing some serious housing challenges, however, three remote Northern Ontario First Nation communities are setting a positive example and have received national recognition at the First Nations Housing Conference (FNHC) for their innovation and achievements in housing. Recipients of the 2018 Community Housing Recognition Awards include Wunnumin Lake First Nation, Rainy River First Nations, and Nibinamik First Nation. Dwayne Nashkawa has been the Chief Executive Officer of Nipissing First Nation since January 2004. He has spent his career working with First Nations in senior roles in the areas of natural resources development, treaty research, governance, and administration.
