I rented a cottage for $1500 a night. The rental also includes a $500 cleaning fee. As per their contract if you do not leave the cottage as clean as you found it they are allowed to charge you at a rate of $50/hour above the $500 already paid.
They withheld $500 from a $3000 deposit for additional cleaning siting these 6 discrepancies.
1) White grease on the cupboard door
2) Cleaning of the stove grill
3) The frying pan in the sink
4) The coffee pot and burner
5) Cleaning of the toaster
6) Cleaning of the window
I have asked how this equated to an additional 10 hrs of cleaning.
They are standing behind their contract and won't explain how it took $1000 to clean the cottage.
