Some pretty nice views up here
Tough climb, but an amazing view at the top. Bring water, watch your step and follow the orange trail markers.
Trekking poles will help with your descent!
July 30 / 2017.Climbed to the summit.Witchcraft Trail,2.9 km.Roots and rocks is the best way to describe the trail. This is the shortest and straight up.Bring a pair of gloves for some close contact with Mother Earth.Tree bark and rocks can chew away the toughness of hands.Maybe its just the way i hike.I meet two other hikers that were not prepared for the trail and were turning back,do some research before thinking of doing this hike.
I used my smart phone with MapsMe.The entire trip is within dense forested growth,no way of using any distance land formations for navigation,I knew how to read the app fairly well enough to use the app with the GPS
Along the way you will get a few open spots for a good view of Nanaimo below. The top is worth the view of the valley with Nanaimo and Salish sea.The skies were fairly smoky with the fires in the north. Have a good hike.
Great trail, well marked and lots of different routes. Mountain summits are easy to get to. 5/5 great mountain would hike again. Watch out for mountain lions Coyotes and bears and bring a lot of gear.
Neat hike. Not too hard for experienced people, just try not to go in the winter. That can screw some things up for you.
