@ghxsts the bug man threw down a few predator bugs two nights ago and they are going to work . There are already a few flea beetles on our cabbages 😡 , these guys should help #protectorsoftheplants #integratedpestmanagement

Day 61 . Lane here again. I cleaned up some random construction garbage that had blown from the yard/dumpster into the trees . @kaitlanmae came by to water, but I beat her to it so she cleaned the shop and started working on the art for our sandwich board for the market . I had broadcast seeded a bunch of clover to the areas adjacent to the medical field to try outcompete weeds but almost none of it came up. Since we had rain in the forecast I went real shallow with the tiller and “stirred” up the topsoil before the rain came down. Hopefully those seeds catch now. Mulch was about 90% completed and just had a couple bald spots, so I made sure to finish that before the rain came so it could weigh it down for us naturally. Nice to have it done for now. Day 60 . Hey everyone - My name is Dylan and I’m going to be helping out Lane with the daily journal! In addition to the IG journal posts, I’m going to make more of an effort to post more about various subjects, such as organic IPM (integrated pest management), aquaponic systems, vermicomposting, sustainable gardening methods and more. My next post will be about two different strains we grew last year. One was Super Lemon Haze CBD from Greenhouse Seed Co, and the other was Golden Gage by Gage Green Genetics. Both are wonderful strains, hence why I will make two separate posts for each one. Stay tuned for those! . Today Lane & Kaitlan put down flags for where we’ll be planting our #acmpr medical crop, then we’ll be figuring out irrigation and plant spacing for our fruits, veggies, medicinal herbs! They finished mulching all the rows too a few days ago, there’s absolutely no way I could have not done it without them both since I found out I’m quite allergic to mulch. :/ . Day 57 . Today was all about mulch. Unloaded 100 bales first thing in the morning and then got to work distributing them along the rows. Kaitlan worked her ass off speading the straw all day long. This beautiful , unsprayed alfalfa straw needs to be pulled apart by hand, and we’ve got 14k square feet to cover. Back in the field tomorrow. . . #meewasinfarms #craftcannabis #helpingsaskgrow

Day 56 . @kaitlanmae planted a LOT of flowers and herbs today. I got one row of straw mulch down. Carpenters and electrician doing work inside. Dylan worked on sourcing a trailer for us to haul water around . We’re taking the day off from the market this weekend. Too much to do on the farm right now. Day 52 . Dropped off a sample of chives at @hometowndiner306 this morning. We’re hoping to have a steady supply of herbs for them by June! Stay tuned . How about this weather? Everything we put in the hoop house seems to be loving it, especially the smaller pot plants. Dylan brought a bunch of totes down to the garden and we filled one with rainwater. Drove to Outlook today to grab some worms and castings from a local worm farmer (score!) . Also seeded the whole field with clover today. @kaitlanmae cleaned all the yellow and crusty leaves from the moms, they sure look fresh! More photos tomorrow I promise . #meewasinfarms

Day 50 and 51 . We made our first sale! @visionvert grabbed himself a basil plant for his kitchen windowsill. Thanks to @soulfoodsgrocer for letting us hang out for the day . I don’t really know where to start as far as farm updates. We’re busy from sunrise to sunset, and then more because Dylan works at night. (check out that last photo!!) I think doing daily stories might be an easier way to give daily updates. A video tour format might be better right now . All of our plants are in the hoop house now. Its hot as eff in there during the day already. Next project is getting it ventilated, we want to run it off a solar panel if possible. Got 6 yards of super soil mixed up for the mother plants, but I was short on oyster shell flour and still need gypsum powder (I had picked up granular). . Contact us if you are interested in purchasing herbs, we are now taking order for June. Lots of parsley, lettuce, and basil will be available first, followed my many others shortly after .

I believe we’re at day 49 now? . . Hoop house is up. Vegetables and herbs repotted and ready for sale (message for more info) Business cards and t shirts ordered. Staff party and campfire. Definitely not taking enough photos! Very busy week this week. Hopefully I can do a more thorough update soon. I’m looks forward to the field being planted and having the time to do more creative work on here as opposed to just the bare minimum updates like I have been now. Day 45 . I took the truck in the get inspected, and then spent the day in coffee shops or down by the water at river landing taking care of phone calls and emails. Compost brewer is on its way now! Also started quotes on game fencing and business cards, that kind of thing . The tuck is shot. The mechanic wouldn’t even take our money for an oil change. He said if it gets pulled over it will get taken off the road for good. Shit . We’re also scrambling to figure out how we’re going to irrigate 380 outdoor plants. Does anyone know where I could find a water test of our river water? I found a guy who does amazing well to RO systems, which would be optimal, but Dylan says the well won’t be able to handle it. I dunno . Dyl and I worked at night, he got 6 fluence lights hung over our trailer. Not all plugged in yet but this our makeshift vegging/propagation idea while the actual garden is being torn apart . Lots of skunks planted, clone transplants seem to look good too.
