This is a fantastic place to relax. When you stay at MSR, you get unlimited access to the pool. The staff is very friendly, the hotel is very clean, the pool is so warm, buoyant and therapeutic. It was very quiet at night, and the beds are gloriously comfortable. The breakfast has lots to offer, but some of the items, for example the scrambled eggs, tasted a bit rubbery like they had been sitting there for awhile, and the orange juice tasted good the first morning and had a fermented taste the next morning. We were here two years ago, when the breakfast was hot and fresh, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Otherwise no complaints. This is a place you should try if you haven't already! Apparently, there are only two other places in the world where the water has high sodium content similar to this one.
We stayed in an executive suite. There was some lack of attention to detail. The bathtub was cracked, the Jets in the tub didn't work. The make up mirror in the suite had not been dusted, and the clock radio wasn't set. There was other things that were less class, like the art work in the room was the same print on both walls, and the no smoking signs on the suites doors are mostly upside down (with the smoke falling). Over all, everything was sufficient. The safe, TV, fridge and microwave were super useful. Some things I would have liked to see, is more desk space, flatter and firmer pillows. The internet also worked pretty good. But we didn't go to small town Saskatchewan to stay in a hotel room, we went for the mineral spa. The water was great, staff was good. The food is nothing special. I do think most things are a good value, but I have the mindset for more luxury. I would recommend lake view suites over any other suite. The fire places are super silly, and not worth the money. The sitting area is also very nice.
Just made a post for the restaurant but wanted to share my experience at the pool. I was a little surprised by the water, not sure what I was expectingbut once in the water I was in heaven. We soaked in the various pools with different temps for about an hour and a half. I floated standing up in the deep end - so cool. Took a peek outside and wished it was still summer so I could have went out on the patio for a cocktail. After we had supper at the restaurant and drove back to Saskatoon and had the best sleep EVER. Recommend this outing to everyone, something out of the ordinary here.
We enjoyed our stay at the resort, but it's not the nicest hotel I've ever been to.
The mineral pool is lovely and relaxing, the gift shop is interesting, the restaurant is alright, the bed was quite comfortable, which may be the most important part of a hotel. We didn't try the poolside cafe. The hotel and pool did seem quite busy, even in autumn.
Such a wonderful and unique experience. Great way to relax and unwind and experience a floating sensation rarely found in nature, especially in Canada! Once you get past the colour of the water, it's easy to immerse and relax. I'm pretty sure that the springs were very helpful for my sleep that night! You can rent a lock for $5 which you will get back when you return it. We bought the day pass and went for two dips in one day which was awesome, especially right before bed. The pools are a bit dark and more natural light would be great, but overall it's an awesome experience!
I went to the mineral pools for a day with friends and were not greeted very professionally. The lady at the pool desk was quite rude to our group. I know that her job is to make guests aware of the policies but was absolutely rude about it and made us feel uncomfortable and felt discriminated against. Her rudeness was completely unnecessary, I know that she may have guests that break the rules but I believe that she could have a better way of telling guest what the pools policy is about swimwear than rudely asking if we had brought proper swimwear repeatedly. . This experience was not at all pleasant and if it were not the for the fact that we had driven a few hours to spend the day, we would have left. I was hoping for a good day and the experience at the pool desk was not a good way to spend my day relaxing in the mineral pools.
Great stay. The food was excellent and the pool was fantastic. The service was superb. My wife accidentally forgot her kindle in the room. It slipped between the bed and headboard and the staff went out of their way to find it and mailed it to us very quickly.
The rooms were great. If you pay a little extra you get free breakfast (so it's not really free) But it's worth it. The mineral pool is to die for. There are 2 pools, one coolish and the other warm. I had such a awesome time there I'll definitely be going back. Must say it's a bit pricey.
Not very good. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The only great thing about it was that the bed was comfortable. The A/C doesn't work in the "new" part of the building so good luck breathing in your room. Then they give us a key to a different room go down the hall (which the roof is sagging so bad my husband's head was touching it) and there was still someone there! They weren't checking out until the next day! If I was a dishonest person, I could have robbed whatever of theirs I wanted. After that happened, I wouldn't leave any personal items in my own room.
The food at the restaurant was TERRIBLE and WAYYY over priced. We each had a skillet, he had an orange juice and I had a coffee-- $50?! The potatoes were cooked in old oil, they give you the tiniest cup of ketchup. I thought maybe we'd give it one more chance for lunch. Cost 30 bucks for 1 salad and a salad/soup combo. then that food comes there is nothing good about either- the salad was rusty, and very bland.
The staff was friendly though, I can't remember the name of the young woman at the front desk, but she was very nice.
Had a lovely stay: the place does seem a little run down/understaffed but I suppose it wasn't peak season when I went in early January. They had us down as 2 people but we were actually 3: this was not an issue but they didn't send us an extra bathrobe for the room, and you need to bring your slippers for walking around the hotel. The water was great though, temperatures ranging from 34-39 degrees Celsius. Book early if you want to get anything done at the spa. The restaurant was very nice and the staff there was very attentive.
