We had a wonderful time today with 30 families at KBI for our New Year, New Friends Party! With the help of Autism Ontario, KBI congregation, some fabulous teens, some amazing grandparent volunteers, and lots of supporters we decorated holiday cookies, made New Year’s cards, saw some amazing animals from Little Ray’s Reptiles, and got a visit from our local MP Anita Vandenbeld!
Thank you so much for JOIN’ing us for an early Rosh Hashanah celebration! Wishing everyone a successful return to school and l’shanah tovah!

Looking forward to seeing some familiar and new faces this coming Monday! We have delicious holiday sugar cookies to decorate, New Year’s cards to craft, snacks, sensory room, Little Ray’s Reptiles, and shmoozing. A huge thank you to KBI Congregation for hosting and to Autism Ontario for generously funding this event.

Look ‘whooo’ decided to JOIN the Sensory Squad! The Sensory Squad has a well stocked sensory kit for pop up sensory stations at community events. Please inquire for information on how to book the sensory squad or how to learn how to set up your own sensory break area! We’d love to help!

JOIN - Jewish Ottawa Inclusion Network, Kehillat Beth Israel, and Autism Ontario are proud to present a Rosh Hashanah Party!! There will be a sensory break area available to facilitate participation of children and adults with special needs, along with fun holiday crafts and snacks! Little Ray's Reptile Zoo will be there too!

Everyone is dependent on supports:
"Chances are, disabled or not, you don't grow all of your food. Chances are, you didn't build the car, bike, wheelchair, subway, shoes, or bus that transports you. Chances are you didn't construct your home. Chances are you didn't sew your clothing (or make the fabric and thread used to sew it). The difference between the needs that many disabled people have and the needs of people who are not labelled as disabled is that non-disabled people have had their dependencies normalized." We have all faced this on some level at some point in our life. How unfortunate that some among us face adversity like this all the time! The advocacy within our communities to remove barriers becomes less necessary the more people in positions to make decisions are educated on inclusion.
