It's good but definitely not the best. blue fox in my opinion is far and above better. Went to brunch 2 days in a row. Blue fox won the beny contest hands down.

Really great food and fairly large portions make this place great. My friends did not like how friendly and talkative the waitress was, but I didn't mind. I imagine she would totally have left us alone if we had communicated; I think she may have been an owner and really wants to build a community and an image of a old time diner feel where you're well taken care of. I had the 1/2 Benny with a waffle and I was impressed by the portion size and how good it was.

Really freaking cool vibe. If you're into classic comfort food this is the brunch for you. Super delicious food and amazing (sometimes singing) staff. All around A++experience

This place is great. Your coffee is never empty, service is always fast. Very little wait for your bill.
HUGE selection on food. The atmosphere is amazing good. You're crammed in like a lot of other breakfast joints. It's big. They have vegetarian options and big meat eater options. There pancakes are to die for! Eat here now!!!response / report this review -

Always awesome, wonderful lasting charm, a loyal staff of decades Among Victoria's very best for any meal. Portion size is always generous for hungry people, and the atmosphere has always been bustling and welcoming. You can taste the home-made goodness.

Literally stumbled across this cozy place. The interior was a little funky looking but the food was ridiculously delicious! Would definitely become a regular if we lived anywhere nearby.

A Victoria classic. Reliable breakfast joint without the wait times of some of the more hip venues in town. Server made us feel very welcome. Food was also really well sized.

I celebrated my birthday this morning at John's Place. We had a party of 8 and made a reservation ahead of time. We were seated promptly at our reservation time.
The service was outstanding! Our server, Avril, was very friendly and accommodating. She was frequently singing as she went about her morning and just very pleasant to interact with.
Our food came out at a reasonable time and was very tasty. I also got a free birthday brownie with whipped cream!
Despite the fact that the place was absolutely packed, all the servers were in high spirits and worked like a well-oiled machine.
All in all, I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good brunch spot. The fact that they take reservations for brunch is a huge bonus too (a lot of brunch places in Victoria do not). I will definitely be coming back here!response / report this review -

I have becoming to John's Place for over 25 years, I was one of the first seated when he opened the restaurant! I have loved it ever since then I basically grew up hanging out with my punk friends there!!! (They were never judgemental) Now I'm retired from the Navy, I have a family and we still love it! The staff were and are friendly, well trained and just AWESOME! THE Food is GREAT! & the Location is perfect!!!!
