Great west coast hiking trail. It is very quiet. When hiking you can't hear cars, and airplanes most of the time, just the Forest. The little lakes are great, and the view points have many different options. With different sides of Mt Newton giving great, very different views. Give yourself around 2 hours to hit one lookout or lake if you go west into the park, your choice. Or take longer and explore more options and views.
Lots a great hiking trails and some viewpoints.
The trail running here is fantastic, lots of good climbs
So many different pathways, one could spend half a day just wandering them all
A magnificent park. Lookouts all across the top, ponds, dams, tons of trails to get about. Easy parking on bottom and on top of the mountain. Get around from all sides of the trees. Everything is green, huge, beautiful a most for venturing about in vic
One of the best old growth stands on the Peninsula, a short walk from the parking.
Very very frustrating that the road access gate is locked and not opened until 8 a.m during the spring and sumner as well as closed completely during the winter. Other than that, when you can actually get into the park it is beautiful
It's nice that you can drive most of the way up, so its a nice short walk to some great views.
Well kept trails and beautiful views.
This is the most wonderful park to visit, when on Vancouver Island. Old growth forest, peaceful and calm, but full of life of the forest. The best time to go is early morning, and then walk to Pickles' Bluff, from where you are rewarded with beautiful views of the whole Saanich Peninsula.
John Dean park is clean and well maintained with a variety of trails and terrain. The trails are well marked.
So many walks. Culturally modified cedar trees. Hours of exploring.
Favorite park around.
Incredible view of the gulf islands and peninsula.
Wonderful place for trail running.
Relatively easy trails and unique scenery.
