Service was amazing. Very prompt, attentive and friendly. Food tasted great. Ordered over lunch and received it fairly quickly.

Had the shrimp fried rice and it is extremely good, almost as good as the one I had in Barrhead before. Portion sizes are fair compared to the price too. I'd say it's definitely more of the nicer places to dine in GP too. The fountain/bridge entrance is a nice touch to the restaurant's atmosphere too.

Good service.. Good food! We come to the Golden Star every time we are in Grande Prairie to visit. Can't get breaded almond chicken like that anywhere at home!

I've been coming to this restaurant since I was in a car seat carrier; now I bring my own children here. I love the familiar faces I see every time I walk in the door. I am happy to support and recommend the Golden Star Restaurant.

Always delicious. Quick to deliver, and if you are eating in or picking up staff are super friendly and treat you like family. Hands down best chinese in town !

My advice is order outside of the busy hours!
This place seems to be the busy Chinese restaurant in town. Which is good usually means great food. But I have ordered here 4 times now. On two occasions it was good the food was crisp and flavorful. The other two times was totally opposite grease, mushy, and under cooked.

Googled "Buffet restaurants in Grande Prairie, AB" and this restaurant was one of the top listings. It IS NOT a buffet restaurant! (Not the restaurant's fault)
Granted, I arrived late (9:00pm), but when I ordered the coffee, it was so old that no amount of milk would lighten it and it had that distinct "old coffee" taste. And $3.75 a cup?
After looking through the menu, I was baffled by the pricing of the selections. $17.95 for chicken fried rice? $11.75 for salad rolls? $13.75 for won ton soup?
I ordered the hot & sour soup ($9.50) and three spring rolls ($4.75). What a disappointment. The "hot & sour" soup was "hot & sweet"; almost syrupy sweet and clear. The spring rolls were tasty enough but each of the three of them were no bigger than my ring finger.
On the upside, the woman who greeted me (owner?) was very pleasant & friendly and the waiter was very good. Restaurant is very nice inside but, given their pricing and the quality of the food, I doubt that I will be back.
