Great historic site. Hosts many events throughout the year including Canada Day and Art By The River. Worth checking out just for some history as well.

Beautiful historic site on the shores of the Detroit River in historic Amherstburg, Ontario. Fascinating War of 1812 history, among other things. Attractive historic buildings and landscaping. Nice views of the river. Beautiful town surrounding the fort--a very pedestrian friendly area.

Reenactment of war 1812/1837..with narration. Great for children learning history. Attended on a day that had various activities related to historical lifestyle and army. Children could dress up as soldiers and pretend to be soldiers with grown-up soldier actors. Children appeared to be having a lot of fun. Definitely recommend on dates that these activities are running

This is a small fort that was barely saved from disappearing by Canada finally acquiring the remaining land and buildings. The staff in the museum, visitor center and barracks were very friendly and welcomed questions. It's a nice place to stroll through the grounds and get a brief glimpse of 1800s Canadian history. Local high school and college students serve as the "soldiers." It's not very large, so it can make a nice stop along the way as you're traveling some place and just need to take a break for a while. Because it sits on the Detroit River, you also can take a walk along the water or just sit and watch boats float by.

Thank you for the history lesson and preserving this part of history. Admission was free with a Parks Canada pass. They had some great demonstrations and allowed the kids to participate in some of them. Great family time here, could definitely spend more time inside the museum to read more about every artifact.

We are making it a point to try and visit as many National sites and parks this year and Fort Malden was a very unique stop. It was before the opening of the season so we did a self guided tour and red as many of the signs that we could. Lot's of things to look at, we hope to return the season to see the inside of the museums.

This historic site was closed for the season until May however we self guided ourselves back into time to view and read the history of the battlefront from the outside. Plentiful informational signs to assist guiding us in front of each historic building. Would love to return in the summer to have a guided tour of the museum and army barracks.

Cool little fort on the banks of the Detroit river. Great experience for kids and adults.

Needs more archeological digs. Could erect a few buildings to make it look more like a fort. Only 'almost' original building is an 1820s small barracks.
Place has a fascinating history. Tried contacting the guy in-charge numerous times to no avail. No returned phone calls.
