I love this picture of my Dad. It was painted by a girlfriend of his in the 1950's. Story has it that he brought her horseback riding and I guess the horse liked her a lot less than my dad did because it unceremoniously tossed her into a huge pile of mud. Suffice to say it was their last date!!.I guess my dad was quite the charmer because she still agreed to paint his picture. My dad was a remarkable man who loved Timmins and Feldman Timber. He began working in the Feldman lumber camps when he was 18 yrs old and in the 1960's founded the retail store which he located at the corner of Maple and Algonquin. In 1970, he recognized the city was expanding eastward and purchased the old Hollinger mine warehouse. His vision proved to be true as Feldman Timber with its convenient location became the premier supplier of building supply materials for Timmins and the surrounding area. My Dad's secret was treating each and every customer with appreciation and making them feel special. Whether they were a major contractor or simply a person who needed one gallon of paint, my Dad valued everyone the same. It is little wonder that I have people come into the store every day and share with me stories about how my Dad helped them build their house or get started in their contracting business when no one else would give them an opportunity. My Dad's reputation was not restricted to only customers. Employees, vendors and industry leaders revered this guy. Even today, I can call any supplier in the entire country and the moment I reveal to them that I am Morris Feldman's son, I am welcomed with open arms. I am so fortunate and proud to be at the helm of this amazing organization that many people forget has formed the fabric of this city since 1910. What a legacy and I owe this tremendous opportunity all to my Dad. Thanks Dad. I love you.
