The Elk Nacho was superb -- the elk was just perfect! Not gamey, not chewy, it was just right. It was very savoury, and really paired well with the nachos. The elk pizza didn't quite match it, in terms of flavour. The pizza was much milder; delicious, nonetheless. Atmosphere was very welcoming, very cozy. Great for groups. The view from inside is fantastic -- although, you're in the Rockies, all around is beautiful.

Poor service, 3rd rate food. This place used to be a Banff Legend called The Barbaray Coast. It was the best sports bar ever and was like a museum with gear worn in world class sporting events and photos of local heroes. It's so sad to see it now just a generic place with below generic service.

Great rooftop view, we had fish and chips which was mediocre. If we return would not get it again, instead, try something else. Service was terrible though! No greeting, Took 10 mins for a server to arrive, another 15 for drinks, no table check once food arrived, but he was eager to give us the bill. There was a fruit fly in the vinegar, I asked for a new bottle and saw that the server just poured out the top and gave me back the same dirty bottle. Thanks for that.

A hidden gem! Tucked away at the end of Banff Avenue, Elk & Oarsman offers great atmosphere, good selection of Beers & Cocktails and of course great menu with famous Elk choices to die for!
You have to visit their Roof Top patio! We went there after a day of hiking and were greeted with friendly staff, knowledgeable bartenders and almost European feel. I felt like we were somewhere in Alps. All staff members were all smiles and positive vibes and time efficient! I didn't find my favourite beer on a menu and ask bartender for a suggestion. I was presented with a beer that I like better than the one I asked for.

Elk Bolognese - A generous amount of elk meat in a hearty tomato sauce served on a bed of spaghetti. It's a solid meat sauce pasta offering, but the 'elk' factor was not discernible in taste (vs. the normal beef variant).

We went as a group of 14. One of us did not get their food (burger) until everyone else was done eating. I had asked for bacon for my burger didn't get the bacon so the waiter brought some on the side but it was barely cooked, still pink and soft. So many other things were wrong with people's orders. Besides that the side salad and soup is a tiny 1/3 cup bowl. This place was utter disappointment.

I could not wait to review this place! FANTASTIC. Considering our visit was during a busy Victoria Day Saturday the service was good. The foodmy goodness the FOOD was SO tasty and filling. We had a beef dip and bison burger. The side garden salads were delicious.
Highly recommend this place.
Kids are allowed until 10pm 👍🏻

Great, bustling bar vibe. Solid tap selection. Back end has a good pub dining experience. Menu quality and selection are WELL above its pub/bar feel. Party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids). All good.

The rooftop patio is awesome on a sunny summer day, very small and intimate with lots of flowers and stunning Banff views. Cold beer and great service make this one of my favorite watering holes in Banff.

Best. Poutine. Ever!
My fiancé and I stopped by this place because it had gluten free options.
Absolutely no regrets.
The food was incredible, good views, nice atmosphere and service.
Will definitely be back.

Nothing bad to say at all!!!! The food was absolutely delicious! We had nachos, Elk poutine, Elk burgers, chicken wrap, salads and soup and not one thing tastes bad. I forget our waitress name but she was from Saskatoon and had red glasses lol she was so awesome and made our experience that much better. Definitely recommend going. You get a massive portion for a great deal. :)

I have been here and it was awesome and then I have been here and it was not so great. So I guess it is hit and miss. But the view is lovely and the staff is always friendly. Great beer selection and when the food is good it is very good.
