Alzheimer's may soon be detectable by Optometrists in the office -- this may lead to earlier treatment and hopefully lead to the irradiation of this disease that seems to touch so many families and our loved ones all over the world - Excited to be able to help when the technology becomes available

New drop formulation for dry eye disease from Alcon - I have tried it myself and it is going to be the one of the best drops on the market - Dr. Pellegrino approved !
When it comes out for retail we will have it on both our Clinics for a reduced price to make it affordable for our patients.
In one of the worse dry eye seasons ever - this new technology will help combat Dry eye disease and help many patients that suffer with this very common problem.

Dry Eye is a big problem today as the world around us is continually changing and digital is the new norm for most people. Here is a good video that illustrates what it is and why it happens. Through early diagnosis and treatment this disease is easily manageable.

Just attended a very good lecture during a continuing education meeting - Stem cell may be the future for people everywhere living with major visual impairment. It is an honour to see a speaker that really cares to make a difference in people lives as we move into the future.
As a wise man said today - as optometrists we are privileged to be able to see the retina which give us a window to systemic disease and it's neurological mechanisms.
The future looks promising!

Diabetes is the fastest growing disease in Canada and it is evident in eye care that this disease can result in loss of vision with uncontrolled blood sugars levels. This article illustrates groundbreaking treatments that give Diabetics facing vision loss a brighter future. As I have said before the eyes allow a window to smallest blood vessels in the body and allow us to see things early and prevent loss of vision. Seeing medical professionals early and booking annual eye appointments with an Optometrist is crucial in maintaining overall health and good eye health.

The Eyes are truly "the windows to the soul" and soon they may allow us to detect Alzheimer's early in our patients to allow for treatment that will make a real difference in peoples lives.
It is exciting to know that the eye care community will be part of this and I look forward to helping in any way that I can to eradicate this disease which affects so many of us today and in the years to come.
