First get there early especially if there any events. Kudos to the bouncers who approach line skippers.
Not really my type of bar as all you get is straight hiphop. I like a blend of various types of contemporary.

Meathead and racist bouncers eager to fight for no reason other than to pad their egos. A gaggle of gorillas who get off on ganging up on one person and beating them up for not liking the way they look. Beer was okay.

I got kicked out because I was standing in the bathroom waiting for my friend. A girl with short hair that worked there pushed me out of the bathroom into the street, and when I told them it was a mistake 4 other bouncers started pushing me away from the door. This place is the most unfair and discriminatory place I have ever experienced. They kicked me out because they felt like it. Don't go here.

This bar has the worst bouncers I have ever seen. One bouncer poured beer on my shoes on the sidewalk and when I asked for excuses, they removed me by force, put me in handcuffs causing me injuries and cuts on the wrists. They were very violent although I did not oppose any resistance, and blatantly lied about my intentions when the cops came. Actually the cops, saw through it and removed the cuffs and let me go as soon as they got there.
Do not waste your time there, and I hope a lawsuit against them will come soon. I, myself, am looking for options to sue the bar and their "security" team.

Meat head, racist, bouncers on a powertrip, looking for a fight/an opportunity to prove their authority. Don't waste your time or money here. Door girl was incredibly rude. Bouncers will try and use you to assert their masculinity because they're just bullies who never grew up. Wish I took the advice of all the other poor reviews. Bouncers are exactly as terrible as everyone describes and Commonwealth clearly doesn't care given this has been an issue for years. For bands- don't play here either. Terrible sound and service.

This is one of the best places in the city for hip-hop music. I'm not an expert in music and especially not hip-hop, so this is just my opinion.

Their music selection is really good and they don't stay within a certain realm of artists - I like that they vary things and I've discovered a few new artists and songs that I like. Downstairs is more old school and chill, while upstairs feels more upbeat.

If you do go, there will be a line up and a lot of people inside. For girls, there are a lot more guys, so definitely go in a group and assert yourself when needed but nothing that isn't common at most other clubs.

Highly not recommended place! Please dont waste your time and money here! Had a horrible experience when me n couple of friends went out to smoke for few minutes and bouncers refused our entry on basis of asking how many drinks we had. Although we didnt bother anyone and gentlemen with me behaved very politely to bouncers after being refused. We tried capturing the misbehavior from staff on camera but bouncers threatened us to harm and break our phones! Ultimately we understood they're just making space for more people inside so kicking out guests who already paid the entry! All i need to know is if its right to refuse the entry of a current guest on basis of number of drinks?
*Please dont have more than 1-2 drinks at commonwealth or else they have right to kick you out doesnt matter you cause any trouble or not*

Good place for a birthday party. Dance floor upstairs and a lounge down, so everyone stays happy. Music is usually just ok, but that'll depend on your taste, i guess.

Walking away from the club at the end of the night (in 2015) I noticed that my pockets were empty. Guess what? The coat check staff literally emptied my pockets which included cash. I called the next day and left a few messages, but never heard back. That's all I really remember from the night, because its what stands out. I think the music was average, drinks weren't cheap, and overall it was "meh".

Was here for the CDW expo and the staff was awesome. The appetizers they floated around were unique, like the cinnamon chicken. Some were a miss, like a deep fried ball of mashed potato, but at least they are experimenting.
