We were happy to join in the discussions at one of the biggest municipal leaders summit on sustainability in cities taking place this week in Montreal, #ICLEI2018. As part of the sustainable and smart cities panel we spoke about the inclusion imperative in cities and lessons learned from our research on #smartcitiescanada challenge.

#SmartCitiesCanada finalists include several communities spotlighted by CityInclusive. Check out how City of Victoria, B.C., and neighboring communities, have gone about their community engagement as they prepared their Challenge application: http://cityinclusive.ca/greater-victoria-bc-smart-investme…/

The Youth Stakeholders Meeting - Future Cities are Our Cities brought together young people and experts into a 1/2 day of generating and sharing ideas on future cities and inclusion. It was a vibrating space of learning.

Many thanks to TakingITGlobal for supporting this event.

Nearing completion of surveying small/mid-sized communities in each province & territory taking part in #smartcitiesCanada challenge, CityInclusive visited the Niagara Region! Immensely grateful to the hospitality of good people and fascinated by all the work they put into making their city a better place to live.

Yesterday, as part of the Sauve Fellows' visit to Ottawa, the CityInclusive team working on Smart Cities met with the Canadian Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi. Our project is moving forward with new support.

Today, City Inclusive team had a great simulation workshop on Smart Cities with Concordia students participating in the Montreal Global Leader Experience today. So many insights and "out-of-the-box-thinking" on how to make our communities inclusive and smart.

We are happy to be kicking off our social media engagement on facebook in addition to our already active twitter account @city_inclusive.

In the latest addition to our perspective page, we argue that mid-sized cities can provide a fertile ground to assess feasibility & scalability of new ideas. We should prioritize local, community-driven, and fin feasible projects!
