Had an amazing experience down in Grotto mountain being toured by an awesome dude named Brent. He was a really great guide who loves his job, showing us all the interesting things to see around the cave and motivating us to some tight "squeezes" we probably wouldn't have done normally. If you've never gone caving this is definitely the way to try it out! Also, don't chicken out on the laundry shoot, it's lots of fun!

Our trip is a few months back but still worth reviewing. We had a great time. Staff and our guide where amazing. If you're considering going for the tour, this is for you: 1. Do it! It's pricy but worth it. 2. Try and get in with a small group. We were in a group of 4 and had a great time because we never had to wait too long for everyone to make it through the tough sections, and our guide was super flexible and let us do all the optional, fun stuff. We're really active and outdoorsy, but this still resulted in several days of sore legs and arms (and smiles). 3. It's rather chilly in the cave, and it's a humid cold. So layer up a bit more than you think you need. Have fun!

What an amazingly unforgettable experience!! Staff were all incredibly friendly, passionate, organized and knowledgable.
Definitely challenging on a number of levels, but nothing that couldn't be worked through. And the sense of accomplishment at the end of it allwow!
My partner and I enjoyed this so much we're considering getting some caving certification so we can see the "wild" side of Rat's Nestresponse / report this review -

Amazing experience!! Very organized and knowledgeable. Doug was a fantastic tour guide. Definitely worth trying the adventure tour even if you are a little hesitant (as I was!) A highlight of our trip!!

Tremendously interesting and challenging. Had lived in Alberta for a while and hadn't heard about this opportunity. Very glad we took the time to seek it out. Tight spaces for sure, but definitely a hidden gem in the Alberta foothills and a memory we won't soon forget.

Great staff and experience. I haven't gone for a full tour yet, but plan to when the kids are a few years older. The company helped facilitate a Alberta/BC Cave Rescue course that I attended at Rat's Nest cave. They have a good caving gear store. If you're looking for equipment or caving suit, this is one of the few places in Canada to get it!

Went on the adventure tour and I would definitely recommend it and would absolutely go again when I'm back in the area! Our guide Doug was very informative, helpful and took our group on some more difficult squeezes after he gauged our abilities. Wonderful!

So much fun. What a great way to spend a day. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, skilled and patient. He made sure that everyone was comfortable and safe. I want to go again.

The staff at Canmore tour was just the nicest. I am now more than ever convinced that Canadians are the nicest people. The lady working in the office really helped me out by giving me some warm clothes that were left behind by other caving participants. I was sleeping in my car on my Canada adventure and it got way colder than I could have imagined. When I informed them about my nut allergy she gave the tour guides a heads up and made sure that no peanut bars where given out to participants. I felt really safe and highly recommend this caving experience for people with a nut allergy. I will come back to Canmore in the next years and participate in another caving adventure! I discovered my new summer vacation activity. If there were more than 5 stars I would give those!

We did their adventure tour and couldn't be happier with it. Our guide's name was Lisa and she was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and really made us feel safe trying things we were uncomfortable with. The challenge squeeze was definitely a bit anxiety inducing but is completely optional. I'd encourage everyone to try this tour and to try the squeezes they feel anxious about - they aren't as bad as they look and it's totally worth it! I have nothing but positive things to say about this experience!

The Rat's Nest Cave is definitely an 'at least once in a lifetime' experience. Adventurous, educational and awe-inspiring.
The trail to the cave can be steep for the uninitiated. But it's worth the effort a few times over just to experience the pitch black darkness inside. The limestone deposits look otherworldly.
Thanks to our guide Chris for his friendliness, expertise and attention to detail. Felt it was good value for money considering the effort involved.response / report this review
