A unique school project in Rialto, California helps feral cats and its community: “We want to teach kids about being of service in any facet of life these cats seem like wild, discarded cats, but they play a role for us. They’ve brought awareness to me and to our students.”
Since TIFF is in town
MOLLY is a very sweet and lovely girl. Her kittens were adopted out by ACR and now she's ready to start her new life! Though she can be a bit shy at first, her foster mom can pick her up and pet her, and she is happy to greet her when she comes in the room! She loves treats and does well with other cats. Are you the perfect family for MOLLY? http://bit.ly/adopt-Molly
A return to summery sunny September weather calls for a treat, would you please to meet RAINBOW and SPRINKLES!! Just like a confection these two will have your complete affection right away. SPRINKLES is the bolder of the two, helping RAINBOW shine bright along learning all the fun things kittens do and prefer to be adopted together. Grab a loved one's finger and circle the top first knuckle with your hand. Now imagine chopping off the tip of each of their 10 fingers. Would you do it?
Of course not. So why would you choose to do that to your beloved cat? Declawing is also known as 'feline partial digit amputation'. It's very painful and may cause health and behavioural issues.
So if a couch is more important to you than a cat, please consider not getting one but instead just visit cat cafes or friends with cats.
Or if you feel as strongly as we do on this issue, please talk to your friends, family, colleagues, strangers, etc about the cruelty of declawing. B.C. and Nova Scotia have banned the practice but we still have a long way to go.
Annette had to have amputation surgery on her front paw, but she doesn't let having 3 legs slow her down! She is adjusting to life with humans just fine, she loves to sleep on the bed and is never far away. She is very quiet unless it's food time and has perfect litterbox habits. Her only requests are no small children, and a (preferably younger) cat who can be her playmateshe just loves to play and wants to feel safe. Could Annette be right for you? My name is RAVEN and I was a teen mom living in an underground parking garage before I was rescued. I am a year old and spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on my vaccines. I am shy at first but please be patient with me. Once I am more familiar with my surroundings, I come out of my hiding spot and demand attention. My foster mom says that I chirp a lot and am not shy when it comes to feeding time. I am ready to be a part of your family. http://bit.ly/adopt-Raven
Cat rescue work involves community team effort. Trapping, feeding, sheltering, socialization, assessment and driving to and from appointments are all important facets of the work we do to help homeless cats. ACR Urgently needs more Volunteer Drivers. Apply today and join the community team effort to help Toronto's most vulnerable cats. https://annexcatrescue.ca/volun…/current-volunteer-openings/
From all your friends @ ACR! 💕😽
Many people think that because our name contains "Annex", we only work in that neighbourhood. But the reality is ACR has 20 managed colonies scattered from out by the airport all the way over to Scarborough! We also do our best to support individuals involved in taking care of homeless cats. We are one of the only charities that works directly with feral cats in the city. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Please help if you are able. Donate today. http://bit.ly/support-TeamACR
Sweet SOPHIE is a perfect example of a community cat who was probably abandoned by a former owner. Luckily, Sophie found one of our colonies and we brought her back inside! Now back in her comfort zone, she spends her days at her foster home eating, sleeping, playing and getting lots of cuddles and pets! Sophie is now ready to find her forever home with loving, caring people who will never let her go! http://bit.ly/adopt_sophie
Lots of great hints from Dr. Uri in this video!
No time to watch? The key takeaway is that cats, by nature, tend to hide their illnesses so they dont appear vulnerable to predators. Instead, they may show subtle behavioural changes such as peeing/pooping outside the litter box, hiding more than usual, increased aggression, or poor appetite. These are all indications that it's time to take kitty to the vet!
RUN FOR PERSEVERANCE! Can you believe this video is 3 years old and the tender twosome of BOOTS and LIL MISS SUNSHINE pictured with pal Boo are still in foster care!?! TEAM ACR has ran for 3 triumphant years in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon and looking to push it further again in its fourth and we need you to join in on the fun! ACR has started using the term "community" cats as an umbrella term because so many of the calls we get are about cats that have lived with a human and been abandoned. If you are trying to help a cat you've found outside, please don't label them "feral" right away. Learn a bit about how to tell the difference. https://www.alleycat.org/…/feral-and-stray-cats-an-importa…/
ANNETTE may have only 3 legs but that doesn't stop her she runs, climbs and jumps just as quickly as any other cat, and loves to sit in the windows and at the top of the cat tower. She sleeps in bed with her foster humans, eats treats from their hands and is never far and always watching. ANNETTE has requested a quiet home and needs to be with another cat as they make her feel safe she would especially love a younger pal as she can't get enough of playing. 💖 http://bit.ly/adopt-Annette
Scratching furniture seems to always make it to the top of the non-cat persons list of complaints. Here's a good look at products and techniques to deter cats. Not caring is of course absent from the list. 😉 Have any experiences with these or tips to share? Please do so in the comments below.

Had a great experience with them. Both volunteers we dealt with were amazing. We are VERY happy with our new friends.
The volunteers at ACR are caring, kind, and altogether wonderful. I thank them for all of the difficult work they do, and urge people to donate whenever they can.
Loved the adoption process with them. Very easy. Great follow up. Would adopt all the cats if I could.
Annex is an amazing Rescue place full of wonderful volunteers and foster parents. They assisted me with adopting a kitten twice and both times they were amazing throughout the whole process. They were thoughtful, kind and you can really tell how much they care for these sweet animals. They really do amazing work! Check out their amazing beautiful kitties, you won't be sorry! #adoptdontshop
