Perfect for a relaxing or adventurous getaway!

The house was very welcoming and the beach was stunning. We spent every minute possible out on the large balcony and went swimming in the ocean almost every day. The water was so warm, calm, the perfect depth, and there was hardly any seaweed.

We rented a car so that we could take some driving trips to a few destinations, but there is plenty to do within walking distance in the village. We saw how the famous Belizean cacao was made from scratch at "Che'Il" (and got to try it ourselves!). At "Bunches of Fun" we saw how bananas are planted, harvested, selected, and packaged for exporting - I will never look at bananas the same way again! We stocked up on hot sauces at "Marie Sharps". We also took a boat trip out to a private island, where we snorkeled and caught fish along the way. When we go to the island, the guide cooked up our fish & lobster & crab for us - amazing experience!

If you plan on staying within the Village, there are plenty of great spots to go to, all within walking distance. All of the cafes and restaurants are delicious and all the locals are very friendly. Barefoot Bar & Tipsy Tuna are great beach bars for getting a drink at night or watching a sports game. Mojo's has delicious appetizers & drinks (go at happy hour and try a bunch!). Above Grounds has great local coffee. The Pickled Parrot had a fun Trivia Night while we were there. The gelato shop was also one of our favorite spots!

We bought a large jug of coconut water from Eppy ever chance we got. (So cheap compared to back at home!) We also loved cracking them open and eating the coconut meat. (Tip: if you like more water or softer meat, ask for a young coconut. If you prefer thicker/more meat, ask for an adult or "dry" coconut.)

Many great memories on this trip - highly recommend renting through Kirsten & Per. You can't find a better location or better house in Placencia! Can't wait to come back.

This was our second stay at The White House in Placencia, this time coming with our extended family for a total of six adults. We weren't sure how it would feel with a group this large, but we were happy to find that there was plenty of space and we never felt like we were on top of one another. As usual, we spent most of our time in the house on balcony watching boats on the water and enjoying the breeze. The balcony is covered, so you can be outside without frying in the sun. It is by far the best feature of the house. We stayed in one of the two bedrooms connected to the shared bath, and with the in-room door locks, we never had an issue sharing with the other couple.

The beach right outside The White House is just as wonderful as we remembered. It’s the best place on the entire peninsula for swimming, since it has very little seaweed, rocks, or coral (compared to other places where there can be loads of seaweed growing on the ocean floor). We took a day trip with On the Hook, where we snorkeled and fished along the way to a private island where we had lunch prepared for us (including the fish we caught!).

We had Vilma (caretaker Nick’s wife) cook a few of our meals for us and it was absolutely terrific! We highly recommend the Belizean Breakfast, which featured fried fish, fresh fry jacks with jam, and fruit salad. On top of preparing the meal, Yolanda took care of clean-up as well! It was like eating at a restaurant but from the luxury of our home! (As a tip for other guests: we had Vilma cater dinner the night before we left on our return trip home, so we would not have to worry about leaving any dirty dishes or leftovers).

We tried a new restaurant this time, The Secret Garden (across from the big soccer field), which had great happy hour specials (the roasted garlic was phenomenal). The Pickled Parrot, a fixture of Placencia Village and personal favorite of ours, hosts trivia games on Thursday nights, complete with complementary jello shots in between rounds! We love that the house is right on the Placencia Sidewalk, making all the shops and restaurants of the village in easy walking distance. The only time we used our rental car was for day trips on the mainland, and one evening when we drove up to Maya Beach for a few games of bowling at Jaguar Lanes after a delicious early dinner at Maya Beach Bistro (check out their happy hour specials too!).

All in all, we had an incredible trip and were so happy to share it with our family! We can’t wait to be back again next year!

The perfect family vacation / couple's retreat!

The house was spacious, cozy, modern, filled with local decor, and fully stocked (the kitchen had more appliances and utensils than my own house at home!). The house may be a rental but it felt like staying in someone's home. Nick was great & made check in and check out very easy.

I stayed in the house with my boyfriend, my sister & her husband, and my parents. The house is the perfect set up for a family of 6, for three couples, or for 6 friends.

If you rent a car, there are tons of excursions & sightseeing, but with such a cozy house & friendly village, you won't even want to! The Village has tons of great food, at every price range, but if you prefer to cook at home, there are plenty of vegetable stands & grocery stores in walking distance. We also had Vilma cook for us twice! The Village is filled with great local shops, artists, restaurants, bars, cafes.. I've been here three times and still haven't been to everything! The locals are very friendly and it's easy and safe to walk everywhere.

Kirsten was very easy to communicate with and gave great instructions & advice in all of her emails. She knows the area very well and can give great, personalized recommendations if you need any! As per her recommendations, we went on an excursion to Bunches of Fun (an informative tour of an active banana plantation - great for both kids & adults), Che'Il (organic cacao farm - also very informative and delicious), and Marie Sharps (hot sauce factory, where we got to see how the famous sauces & jams are made, sample all of their products, and stock up on souvenirs).

We also went on a fishing trip with locals Gas & Al - they're very knowledgeable and great fishermen. I caught a lizard fish, my brother in law caught a barjack, and my boyfriend caught a giant baracuda! Gas also caught some crab & lobster! When we got to the private island, Gas cooked up our huge meal - so fresh & delicious! We also went snorkeling on our way to the island - beautiful fish and corals, just remember to sunscreen!

I highly recommend Placencia Village and definitely recommend this house! No complaints whatsoever. Just a wonderful, relaxing, and memorable vacation!

We just got back from a girls week at this beautiful beach house in Belize. The house itself is a vacation. It is absolutely gorgeous, high end, well stocked and so comfortable, the views are amazing. Sunrise and moon rises like I have never seen before. The Caribbean ocean right in your front yard. So convenient, walk out the door onto the beach walk and there is everything you need, shops, bars, restaurants all in walking distance. Grocery store 5 minute walk. People in Placencia Village are so nice and laid back. We did a couple of tours with Lyra at Taste of Belize. A great cooking tour and an amazing snorkeling and fishing tour. They cook whatever you catch for a great BBQ lunch on an island. The White House in Palcencia exceeded our expectations.

We found our Paradise!
We have traveled around in the Caribbean for years and had heard that Belize had something special to offer. It wasn't until we came to Placencia Village that we understood what people talked about. We found our Paradise! This newly built house right on the beach gave us the most spectacular sunrises every morning - each in a different way, which we enjoyed with a cup of tea on the balcony at 5:30 am watching the pelicans getting their breakfast right in front of us. Schools of fish would jump in the first ray of the sun! This property, The White House in Placencia, is a luxurious house and has everything for a comfortable stay, whether you like to cook, eat out or bring back. (There is a well-equipped supermarket a short walk up to the main road.) Right out the door you walk 5 minutes on the famous Placencia sidewalk downtown to restaurants, gift shops and all local lore. Placencia Village is totally about the people! We have never been in a place where we felt at home right away. People greet you, smile, and are truly friendly! So much culture to enjoy, lovely nature, and the most spectacular food made by the local people. (And since this is so close to the Village we didn't have to discuss who should drive home after enjoying local rum punches! We simply walked home on the beach: right foot in the water and you will get home safely.) Even though it is close to the Village, the place is still so very peaceful. The house always has a natural breeze so we never used the a/c's, but fell asleep to the sound of the water. We will definitely be back. ASAP! Our favorite restaurants are Mojo's, Dawn's Grille, Mary's Kitchen, Pickled Parrot, Rick's Cafe, Tipsy Tuna and Barefoot Bar! We loved talking to the local wood carvers and watched them do their magic to the rare local wood. The caretaker on the premises is very friendly and welcoming and was happy to help us with any question or need we had. We loved the large jar of fresh coconut water that the groundskeeper provided for our daily smoothies. And we appreciated that the property has a built in private garage, so our rental car was kept cool and safe for our adventures!
