Great beach, good restaurant on the pier, calm. The reason I didn’t give it all 5 stars was because the beach is almost always lined with a huge heap of seaweed.

We didn't stay here, but did a day trip to the location. The name says it all. Quiet, relaxing, and with a restaurant with good food and drinks. Highly recommend checking it out, even if you don't stay here.

Good: We stayed in one of the cabanas and had an awesome time! We walked up the beach a couple miles and met a caretaker. We also found a couple baby seas turtles in the sand on our walk. Then we walked down to other resorts to experience their places. On our walk we stumbled across an abandoned resort half finished with 100s of iguanas EVERYWhere it was crazy. It was like an iguana motel. We loved our cabana, swam and snorkeled all day around and slightly north or the property. Just petered around. Breakfast was fantastic and the caretakers were very pleasant and helpful! We kayaked one of our days early in the morning which made for spectacular photos. Seeing the other resorts and comparing, we liked our choice. It’s simple, quiet, affordable and still has good amenities. We liked the seclusion. We rented a scooter in town and drove it to Tranquilty resort. Not recommended for non-adventurous folks! Cause there really wasn’t a road, so there was lots of pot holes, flooded regions to ride through, questionable paths and then the path stopped so we had to ride on the beach shore to our destination. We had a very fun time.
Not so perfect part: if you want quiet it often means you’re far away from things. So a lot of activities
    required a boat ride.

We have been to a couple of places in Belize and this is by far our favorite. Some places have a beach, others have good snorkeling. This place has both! You can snorkel right off the beautiful beach, which is great if you have kids that you want to experience the beautiful reef without you worrying about having them out too far. The beach is Gorgous and well maintained. There is some sea grass but plenty of places with white sand to just wade in. The staff is awesome and thier snorkel and dive master, Max is friendly and knowledge. The food is great and at night you can go outside after you eat and watch the Tarpin and Rays swim under the light they shine into the watwr. We are making this a yearly trip and I suggest you do to.

Just came to snorkel and have lunch. Close to the reef Shallow from shore to reef Easy swim. Lunch at the restaurant was very tasty and friendly. Even though they were out of a few items on the menu, the experience still made it a 5 star.

Beautiful place for relaxation and solitude also some small but nice coral heads right in front of the cabins. ..kayaks in bad shape, but taking the guided tour to the marine reserve was worthy. ..

This place is an internationally owned "resort" run by non-Belizians (a South African at present), so this is not a place to go "explore Belize" and get to know "the country". It is really far north on the island and far away from anything else, which sounds awesome but in reality makes you a captive consumer. Prices are about triple of what you normally would pay a few miles to the south.

We thought that, because we were so far north that we would have unique access to a portion of the reef where divers and snorkelers from further south wouldn't be. In reality, the only dives offered backtracked south, which meant extra time riding on the boat, only to go to a crowded reef. You also paid extra money for this backtracking privilege.

That said, at least the food was pretty amazing, if amazingly priced. The staff was great (though the South African manager often was caught uncomfortably berating them which made it awkward at times).

Also, one of the things that grated on me terribly the beach.. lots of plastic trash that could have been picked up by the resort if given an hour. I would know, because I spent an hour picking it up for them.

My husband and I stayed at Tranquility Bay for 6 nights at the end of September into October for our honeymoon trip. My husband discovered Tranquility Bay after multiple internet searches. We didn't know anyone that had been to Belize, so reviews were all we had to go by. The reviews for Tranquility Bay seemed great and the pictures were gorgeous, so we took a shot in the dark and booked the trip. I'm not going to lie, I was slightly nervous going in to it. When we flew from Belize City to San Pedro, we had to wait at the tiny airport for about 20 minutes before our taxi arrived. He finally arrived and took us on a 5 minute drive to a dock, where a boat and 2 Tranquility Bay employees were waiting for us. They were super pleasant and welcoming. We loaded into the boat and off we went up the coast. The 2 guys told us all kinds of historical facts about Belize, they pointed out places on the coast as well as animals in the water. After a super enjoyable 30 minute ride, we arrived at Tranquility Bay to what seemed like a welcome party. There were people waiting on the dock to greet us and before we took 2 steps on the dock, we were handed a cocktail. We got the quick tour and were escorted to our cabana. The resort, all the cabanas and the view of the Caribbean were breathtaking. Never in my life did I think I would get to experience that "postcard" beach picture. Our cabana was clean, small, and simple, just what we wanted. The front porch was literally on the sand and maybe a 12 step walk to the sea. Chairs and hammocks were set up in front of our cabana as well as down the length of the private beach. The beach is only about 12 cabanas long, and that might even be stretching it. During our trip, we had access to kayaks and snorkeling gear, which we used on the daily. I swear we paddled the length of 4 football fields out and the water was absolutely crystal and bath water warm and the reef has an abundance of beautiful sea life. We ate all of our meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner at the one and only restaurant on the property, The Aquarium. And enjoyed all of our beverages from The Tacklebox. The food was spectacular each and every time. Everything was so fresh. It looked gorgeous and tasted amazing. My husband and I never looked forward to meals so much, because they were all so perfect. We still are talking about the coffee creamer that was different than what us Americans use, the Belizean eggs, the fish, and the rice that was different every night! Oh and the rum cakeso good! The server in the restaurant and bar, Nigel, was outstanding. He was friendly, polite, made helpful suggestions, and great drinks! I think my husband and I looked forward to talking to Nigel at each meal more than we did actually eating. Every night during dinner, the lights under the restaurant and over the sea turn on and you can see all kinds of sea life: eagle ray, pencil fish, barracuda, and tons more. Nigel made it a point to show us the different fish and explain things about them to us. During our trip, we also had a romantic dinner on the beach, which was so fun! Tiki torches, wine, conch shells, the whole nine yards. The resort also booked a day trip for us, we went snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley, as well as sightseeing on Caye Caulker. The resort boated us back down to San Pedro for the excursion and they were waiting there to pick us up at the end of the day. One day early on in the trip, I was not feeling well. The staff at the resort was nice enough to pick up some medicine for me in town. And the next days they went out of their way to see if I was feeling better, which I wasI couldn't let a little illness prevent me from spoiling this amazing trip. Overall, Tranquility Bay Resort went above and beyond any and all expectations I could have had for our honeymoon. They made sure that we had the most fun, yet relaxing experience I could have ever dreamed of. We cannot wait until we can go back to Belize and Tranquility Bay Resort!

Relaxing and enjoyable. Great staff, comfortable cabins, clean white beach, long walking trails. Northernmost public spot on the Ambergris Caye coast where the coral reef comes within 1/4 mile of shore Roll outta bed, grab a snorkel and float over the finest reef in W Hemisphere. Yummy, simple food; full bar.
