Amazing gardens in front of hotel and many different sitting areas .closed gate at night and hotel door locked at night ,access with key .
Only had one key to room .AC in room is extra but had ceiling fan which in January was enough to cool us at night .
    1/2 block from ocean

Host is not welcoming. Common area has no sink, so dishes need to be washed by the hostwhich she makes a big deal about having to do. Rooms were dirty and full of mosquitos, only plus was it is cheap for the island and in a quiet part of town, however we would not return

Clean and quiet rooms, comfortable bed, fan in room, water and ice available outside. Reasonably priced accommodations. Very friendly and nice owner at front desk. Not on the beach front road, so no dramatic views of the sea, but it is just half a block from the beach and very close to many nice places to eat, drink and bath in the water. I would stay here again.

It seems this place earned its rating a while back with its double rooms, and now manages to maintain it mostly due to the newer cabanas which it also has and which are in a pretty good nick. But the double rooms are really not great.

First good points: very good internet connection & free drinking water (although that's pretty standard). Probably the cheapest double room on the island, but still expensive st $35US.

Now onto why this should be downgraded from its current rating:

Dated rooms, not been cleaned in years - thick layers of dust, curtains dotted with mould, holes in window mosquito screens, shutters and mosquito screens covered with dirt and dust and bugs, limescale ate away shower knob years ago, water in the bathroom stunk.

We had a cockroach in our room, but that's OK, it's not unusual in this climate, we accept that. However, the room was infested with Mosquitos - with each one we killed more and more kept on coming and we were getting eaten alive. When asked for room spray we were told there was a plug-in device in the room we should use. Never were we informed at check in that was the case. The device was again covered in grime and layers of dust.

Extra charge for use of air conditioning - again, understandable, but not at an extra $12.50 a night.

Room gets no breeze whatsoever and the one dust covered fan doesn't help any. It just spreads the dust causing allergic reactions.

No sink in communal area, owner washed dishes elsewhere. Anytime you wanted a water bottle or a tub washed it was an inconvenience.

Owner seemed pleasant enough on a couple occasions but most of the time requests for help or advice made you feel like you were an inconvenience.
