Beautiful only issue for me was it was hot! And I was there in March. But so cool learning about the temples. Though I bought my husband a knife at the tourist shop area. And it was taken and thrown out when 'reboarding ship. The guy told me they'd put it up like they do alcohol and I could reclaim at end of cruise was not the case.
The pyramids here are amazing. Went on a tour here with Norwegian Cruise Line. The bus ride was a little long and rough, it was about an hour ride to and from and the bus needed shocks. Once at the pyramids though it was worth it. You should walk up which ever pyramids you physically can, we'll worth it.
This site has 3 large pyramids and some smaller ones in the vicinity. I climbed the Pyramid of the Sun God and it began to rain. The rocks can be a bit slick and there are very few rails in climbing and descending the pyramids.
Way off the beaten path, but worth the trip. Climb the pyramids that they will let you, but stay off of the ones that they tell you not to. The little tourist village nearby has great woodcrafts and Sorrel Wine, which is OK, if a bit strange.
The most accessible ruins in northern Belize. If you are driving this is the one to see. Good creole Belize food at restaurant in parking lot. The road in was recently paved, which improves the trip greatly.
