Our Campsite was beautiful, huge and directly in the near of the water. You can do Helicopter, Fishing and Mokoro-Trips which is nice. The internet is very poor and at it's best useful for checking emails. If you have to rely on it - better don't. There is no electricity at your campsite but a kitchen with a big fridge you can use. The staff is very friendly. Watch out for Hippos and Crocos. ;)
The way to the Camp reminded me a little of Sossusvlei. It's a 13km gravel road with a lot of loose sand so a 4x4 is really necessary as the sign at the entrance declares. You're always happy when you see the next "Guma" sign. The sign with directions in the city before going offroad is quite unclear, though. I would give 3.5 but seeing it objective it's a 4/5.response / report this review -

Beautiful camp right on the shores of the lagoon. Can be hard to get to in the rainy season and very hard to find unless have GPS coordinates. Good facilities incl. pool and communal kitchen and campsites with own shower/toilet facilities.

El campamento esta bien. Tienen un bar precioso y a precios locales. Nos dimos un paseo en helicóptero que es de las cosas que no se olvidan.

Equipment is very basic. Rooms are basically permanent tents which tend to get very cold at night. Little signage makes it difficult to get there. However it does have a great setting overlooking the lagoon and reasonable prices.

This is a beautiful place but unfortunately there were a lot of little things that prevent me from giving it 4 or 5 stars.
There's a communal kitchen for self-catering which they say is fully stocked but really is very limited. It's missing basics like a microwave and sharp knives. The cutlery and crockery is grimy and chipped and really needs to be replaced. They had washing liquid and sponges but they were so old they had gone a dodgy color. It would be very easy for them to replace these and improve it significantly. If you plan on self catering then you better be bringing your own stuff to cook and eat with.
Another thing is that the campsite toilets don't have doors this is a simple thing that would make a huge difference.
And the hot water works for about a minute and then runs out
A couple pointers if you do choose to come here (because it is really a beautiful location and they have plenty organized activities) are: 1. You have to have a 4x4 to get in otherwise organize a pickup. In the summer it was really sandy and in the winter large sections will be under a lot of water. 2. If you are driving yourself in don't follow a GPS even if you have Tracks4Africa installed. Rather follow the signs (which are small and easy to miss) as the roads are very much season dependent. 3. The only power points are in the communal kitchen for charging so if you have battery packs make sure they are fully charged before you arrive.response / report this review
