8 kms Trekking on hill side is very exiting to visit Tiger Nest Monastery, amazing place to visit in Bhutan
This is a small monastery behind tak tsang(tigers nest) called drolay phu..
The best to Hike in Paro- its the hike up to the Tiger's Nest. Its a two-hour hike.
Good Trekking point
Some tips before going ahead on this awesome trek. It's a 9km uphill walk so be sure to carry all your supplies. Even if it's cold at the base you'll start feeling hot halfway. The view is just mesmerizing from the top. Also start early. Happy trekking.
Amazing monastery only made better by the gratifying trek. Can be difficult but doable with frequent breaks.
Incredible experience.. must vusit
It's a Buddhist monestry above the hill. We walked till end. It is very high & difficult to walk of hill roads but we enjoyed a lot..
Beautiful and make u think how it is made?
It dates back to 8th century meditation site, the temple was built in 1962 around the cave. The place where Guru Padmasambhava meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours, back in 8th century. Located 10,240ft over paro valley. The trek is challenging takes around 3.5 hours. Don't forget to stop at the cafeteria on the half way if you want to take some great pictures, would recommend the same while coming down, the the view around 3-4pm is majestic.
About the trek: Took us 4 hours to reach the top. My parents went back after reaching the cafeteria at halfway point. The cafeteria is expensive.
There are water taps at various points of the trek, so a 500ml water bottle would be enough. (Not sure if RO purified) That with glucose powder should be enough and keep yourself light.
If it rains the path might become slippery. Avoid the trek or cut it short in that case.
I would recommend wearing shorts and a light wind cheater if you are aiming for halfway. Shorts are frowned upon at the temple.
About the temple itself: Just like other monasteries of Bhutan, there are statues and idols of the various deities of Bhutan. There are places where the Guru Rinpochen interacted with various artifacts. You can light a butter lamp for some charge.
Start trekking for this place in early morning around 5 AM so you don't get to see much of crowd and enjoy the good moments in peace..
Awesome place.
A small place serving tea and biscuits on your way to Tiger Nest.
Lovely monastery
Amazing view after a long 2 hours of trek, 3 hours for beginners.
Peaceful and serene place.
