The main statue is Guru Rinpoche, which was taken from Goen Tshephu. When the statue was ready and was to be taken to some other destination, the statue had spoken to be taken to Paro. When it reached Jela dzong, people didnt know where to take. The vulture (goe) flew from the site to Jela and the statue flew on the vulture. There is a vulture below temple. From the current position of vulture, the statue was carried by a goat (ra), to the temple on the top. Later it was taken to the lower temple. When entering, the head part was struck and the statue again spoke for the second time. It said the goat to turn right. It is said that the statue will speak for 3 times. Later, a meditation master came there and met with Guru Rinpoche. There are natural appearance of om ah hung on the rock, and a vajaraguru mantra.
Ragoe Monastery is one of the best carved stories of Buddha Statue and astonishing why place is named as Ragoe.
Rago Ney literally means the sacred place of goat and vulture (Ra for goat and Go for jago, vulture). Guru Rinpoche is said to have blessed the place and it’s a very sacred religious site. The monastery is built on a steep cliff. It’s under Doteng Gewog in Paro. A road goes up to the base of the temple from a diversion near Norbuling Rigter College. It’s about an hour-long hike from the base to the temple. Along the way you will come across many sacred imprints such as the footprint of Guru Rinpoche and Khadro Yeshi Tshogyal.
