This a very decent beach with many small restaurants and bar near to it. Also very at a walkable distance from the port where the cruise ships come. If getting down from a cruise, come to the road after checkpoint and keep right and walk along the shoreline to reach here. Its a beautiful beach with clear water to spend a day. If not planning to get into water. You can still sit along the concrete piers and enjoy the beautiful views. Farther you go on the beach from the cruise ship lesser the crowd.
If you want to go to the beach and you don't want to be on a an Excursion you have to exit the boat and head right along the shoreline past all of the shops to decent public free beach. Don't bother paying the $45 or so for a chair or umbrella keep walking until you get to a couple of concrete piers there you'll find a decent free public beach and crystal clear water (see images). They also usually have a security guard walking the beach. From this area you have a great view back on the cruise ships and the ocean there's even several palm trees for some shade. Alternatively for about $150 per person! you can go to Atlantis.
Walked here to swim and enjoy the gorgeous water. At the time, there were only locals there. They were very friendly and welcoming. It was a truly beautiful beach.
If you come to Nassau and don't buy an excursion and don't want to shop, eat, or drink the whole time then maybe check out this free beach. It wasn't awe inspiring. Some locals definitely hang out here and there's food, boozy coconuts, and chairs to rent. We came on a rainy day so the walk was rough, but we happily burned a few hours. Watch for dirty restrooms and cigarettes in the sand. After all, free beach.
I've been to this amazing beach 3 times and each time I had a blast. Super friendly people, great drinks and food. Can't wait to go back!
It may not be the most picturesque beach, but it's not terrible, and it's very walkable from the cruise port. This is a great place to go for free. Otherwise, try a day pass from the British Colonial Hilton down the street.
Excellent experience for free, well almost free. Unless you are rich and want to be crowded, we found out that if you go to the end of the beach, furthest from ships you will get a better deal on chairs and drinks and food. We had an area all to ourselves the water just as good. We had chairs for a party of ten all we had to do was buy food which we were going to do anyhow. Others were charging for the chairs and umbrella plus food. Go towards the end of beach my recommendation.
Hot day but water was nice and cold! Walk was longer bc of construction blocking the direct route. Steep/thick sandy drop getting in the water making it harder for older knees to get out. Fun to watch ships come in so close and turn around and back into slip.
Short walk from the cruise ship port. Enjoyed relaxing with my $3 coconut water that you can purchase from the bar. Beautiful crystal clear water and white sand.
Beach was beautiful and very crystal clear waters. Being there was great and awesome, getting there a different story. The best way is to take a ride there, we walked it was too humid and hot trying to get there. It took almost 30 minutes walk time about 6minutes drive.
A majority of people who come here are from the cruise ships. There are plenty of huts here selling various items from souvenirs, drinks and food. The water is beautiful. Its a close walk from the cruise ships and another close walk to the Fish Fry.
$15 for an all day umbrella? 3 shots and 3 beers for $10? Crystal clear water? What's not to love?! Get there early to get a good spot before it gets too crowded! There is a bath house with showers on sight for you to clean up and change if you want to go shopping afterwards.
The water was lovely and it was a reasonable walk from the cruise ship. Unfortunately, there was trash strewn all over. I'm ashamed to say it was the other Americans. People who came from our same cruise ship just left their trash. There were Americans with glass bottles drinking in the water. One dropped his. No wonder there was broken glass on the surf line.
It was pretty. They had children's games. There were lifeguards. Merchants were very nice. It was crowded.
MUST COME!! This small beach is in walking distance of the ship and right next to restaurants for lunch. There are beach chair rental places, fresh coconut drinks, a couple bars and small stores right there on the beach. The sand is white and the water is clear!! Really nice spot just get there early it will get crowded from the ships. We went at 9am and had it to ours selves almost until 11. Oh and lots of different fish in schools swim around you the entire time in the water it's nice!!
A 20 minute walk from the cruise ships. Small, clean, beautiful beach. Cheap drinks, great music, fantastic view of the lighthouse. Water is crystal clear. Every time we visit Nassau we make it a point to stop here for a few hours. Well worth it!
This was THE best experience that I had on and off my cruise! I was treated as soon as I got on the beach. Shout out to Trevor for making sure that me and my daughters were comfortable.
Down to earth, lively and entertaining. Not 5 star rated but 5 stars fun and frolic
This is a free beach, assuming you want to sit in the sand. The sand had a ton of glass in it. Just in the little section I was in, I picked up about 20 pieces. They have chair rentals at a decent price. There is a hut serving alcohol at super cheap prices. We got 4 beers and 4 shots for $10. The shots tasted terrible and the beer was Presidente. Still though, $10. The view at the beach wasn't that great, but it was very close (walking distance, 15 minutes) to the cruise ship dock. A lady offered to braid my hair, which I was pretty excited about. She offered me $2 a braid, which I told her to just do the top. After all was said and done, she somehow got 40 braids on the top and then said that she was charging $3 a braid. She wanted $120. I told her that I only had $100. This ruined my experience for the beach. A lot of people selling their services. Also, there are a lot of restaurants across the street from the beach. There are also portable restrooms on the beach.
The spring breakers that litter this beach make it as tacky as the local salesmen that lure them here. It's a pretty beach, but unless you're getting wasted, there's better places to see.
Junkanoo Beach was pretty good. There were vendors able to provide what we needed to stay comfortable, and the beach was nice, if a bit crowded and prone to litter--which they worked very hard to control. It's in a convenient location from Downtown Nassau.
This was a pretty nice beach, but it was fairly crowded. Although the beach itself was free, if you want somewhere to sit that's not sand, you'll be expected to pay for one (or a buy a drink).
Overall, it's a nice beach with beautiful water.
