Great service and friendly staff in an impeccably clean and well maintained facility. Hot showers and a short walk or cycle to all that Great Harbour Cay has to offer. The marina is in a fabulous little hiding space out of the wind and weather.
Great stop. Friendly staff
When I saw the one star review that someone wrote, I knew that I had to write a review of my own. While it may have been true that the docks were falling apart four months ago, they are no longer in a state of disrepair. It is true that the restaurant was knocked down by several storms, but they are almost done rebuilding it. There is still a small store next to the marina where you can buy a few emergency supplies if you need them. There is a person selling conch salad at the marina.
We visited this island about a month ago and the docks were in great shape. The staff was super friendly. Every building had just received a coat of paint. The marina-owned beach is an easy walk or bike ride away. While town is on the other side of the bay from the marina, you have options to get there. You can take your dinghy or you can take a ride that the marina staff arranges for you. So far, this has been the only marina we've encountered where the staff makes an effort to make your stay enjoyable. They arranged a pot luck dinner under their pavilion, came to everybody's boat to take orders for fresh-made breads, did the same on pizza night and arranged for a group lunch at a local restaurantand even provided the transportation. The marina even provides you with a bag of goodies that includes a set of maps to local attractions.
In addition to all of this, one cannot forget the location. This place is located within a short dinghy ride of a blue hole, shark creek, a fantastic shell beach. Fishing for bonefish is great just inside the inlet, before you get to the marina.
As far as security goes, this is a marina where everyone leaves their stuff unlocked and feels safe about it. This is not a poor island, like so many in the Bahamas. This is not a high crime area. I would feel safe walking around after dark here. It is unfortunate that someone got their credit card stolen, but is there proof that it happened at this marina's office? Even if, it sounds like an isolated incident and no reason to trash the place in review.
Very well protected marina in an inlet in the Berry Islands. Staff do all they can to make your stay pleasant. Beautiful beaches in walking distance
A wonderful, greatly staffed marina with new dock slips. The prices are affordable (considering it’s the Bahamas) and the staff are super friendly! Awesome marina if you’re looking to make great friends here. They have social events weekly to get other cruisers together (ie: potlucks, etc). It’s located in a great area with lots of spots to sightsee. They have bikes you can borrow to explore around the island and there’s stores nearby in walking distance as well.
Taxi seulement
Great place helpful staff. Clean and in good condition.
This marina is poorly maintained. The dock is falling apart, with broken bits everywhere. The washout water is saltwater. However, they do offer RO water. There is no pool, restaurant, bar or store to speak of. AND to top off our stay, someone stole our credit card # from the office, and went on a shopping spree. Not a good place!
Seems like it would normally be a pretty quiet marina, with the exception of the time I was there.
Love this marina. Great Harbor Cay is such an under rated island, it has some of the most beautiful beaches in all the Bahamas!
