Where: Macuco Safari, Foz do Iguaçu
What: An extreme boat ride up to the falls.
How was it: It was great. We kind of knew what to expect but were still surprised once we got there. We later found out that it's better to do the boat ride on the Argentinian side (live and learn). We didn't have the time to weigh all the options since we were only there for 2 days. Should we return we will try the boat on the Argentinian side, since most of the falls are on their side of the border.
Regardless, it's a must - whether you do it on the Brazil or Argentine side it doesn't matter in the end ! As long as you enjoy yourself !

Don't take the boat on the Brazilian side! Macuco Safari are a rip off. I paid a lot of money to take a boat up to the "water falls" and went up to thhe first two little falls which is all they have access to! They tell you that the boat trip goes for 25 minutes but we were back at the dock after 12 minutes. We spoke to the staff who were understanding and offered us a refund BUT when the manager came he just yelled at us in Portuguese until we felt unsafe and left. Do yourself a favour and spend your money on an Argentinian boat ride up the the real iguazu falls.

This tour is seriously overprized for what you get. We paid about 150$ for 3 people for a 2 hour tour, where the boat ride should be the main attraction. The tour then consisted of the following:
- 5 min waiting for the ride to leave
- 20 min of slow ride along a simple path where information about exactly 2 trees was given (the rest consisted of information why the ride had to stop 10 times, since the path was too narrow in most parts to let the opposing rides cross)
- 5 min wait for the jungle walk to start
- 15 min of walk without any information (except organisation of the boat ride) where the only animals we saw were bugs
- 5 min wait to get a locker coin
- 10 min wait for the vest
- 15 min wait for the elevator to the boat
- 5 min boat ride to see the wide falls in the middle
- 5 min wait for the driver to put on his rain clothes
- 5 min rides towards the devils throat up to the first bigger waterfall
- 5 min circling beneath the waterfall to get everyone soaked
- 5 min ride back to the start
- 5 min wait for the elevator up
- 5 min wait for the train back
- 10 min slow ride back to the entrance
The boat ride was way too short for the prize, and the waiting times really make up a big part of the whole "experience".
