Perfect hotel from which to explore Rio. Perfect setting on Copocabana Beach. Attentive and welcoming staff both in the hotel and on the beach. Close to many good restaurants, and very safe and secure. We recommend it.

Highly disappointing if you’re expecting the standards usually associated with the distinguished label of JW Marriott. While the staff were excellent, the facility is struggling to make 3 Stars look fitting. Maybe there are different floors, but our deluxe ocean view king room cake with mold and bubbling trim in the bathroom, exposed electrical wires are a broken shelf in the closet, and a distinctly funky smell of mildew. The views from the rooftop are great, but the pool is tiny and the bar meager. If you’re looking for 4 to 5 Star places on Copacabana then definitely avoid. We ended up walking over to the Belmond Copacabana Palace twice to dine there and wish we were staying there to enjoy their wonderful facilities and true top class service.

We spent two nights here at the JW Marriott. We had a lovely oceanfront junior suite, a great full bathroom and a powder bathroom in the entry, a decent sized separate bedroom, and a small living room. The suite had two modern TVs,. And the decor, although dated, seemed just right for the settings. The hotel food was fine, and the entire establishment was clean and comfortable. It was a nice haven of tranquility in Rio, where I did not otherwise feel particularly comfortable or safe.

This is definitely not what you would expect from a JW Marriott, but a 2- to 3-star city business hotel. The hotel is generally old and was not constructed to a 4- or 5-star standard you would expect from a JW Marriott. The carpets and furniture in the rooms are old. The bathrooms are tiny. Most of the rooms are facing the center atrium and you can look right into other guests' faces.

They do often upgrade Platinum members to the oceanview rooms when available and in my case it wasn't available for the first 3 nights but they moved us to the ocean view room after that. That room had a small window that looks right at the Copacabana Beach which is very nice and added light into the room. The bathrooms were small in both of the rooms I was in.

I read many reviews about the executive lounge being the best they have been to at any hotel. I have travel a lot and stayed at many hotels in different countries, and this one is certainly not anywhere near the top of the ones I have experienced. There is often very little food and not replenished. For the first 3 days I was there, I would not be able to find any seat during breakfast or in the evening, and when guests leave, there were not enough staff to clean up the plates or to put out new food. Many other guests were also standing and eating holding their plates. There is only white, red and sparkling wines provided in the evening hours.

The service was also a little off half of the time. The staff are all very pleasant and friendly, but the information I get from them are wrong half of the time. I had to re-set my keys to work with the elevator, the room and the lounge 4 times to get them to work.

The rooftop pool which had great reviews, is rather small and you can't see the ocean oven when you are in the pool or lounge chairs.

The location is great though right off the Copacabana beach.

This is one of the best hotels on planet earth. The free breakfast is a gourmet delight. The staff is wonderful. Security is excellent. The rooms are comfortable.

Upscale hotel at the heart of the famous Copacabana Beach. Warm and professional staff treats you very well and helps to make your stay pleasant. Great breakfast is served at the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The executive lounge on the 9th floor overlooks the beach and features beer and wines among other warm food and deserts in the evenings. Treated very well here and look forward to returning.

Awful experience.
Rooms are small (see pictures) and if you are not lucky to have a view on the beach, you'll have a view on The inside patio !
With every other room peeping into your room. No other solution than living with closed curtains.
In addition to that, rooms are VERY noisy. I could hear my neighbor speaking (not yelling) on the phone in his room.
No other solution than sleeping with earplugs, in a so-called 5 stars hotel!!
Temperature in the room was so freezing that I had to ask for a heater (which was very noisy) so I couldn't rest sufficiently.
Only positive point : it's located near the beach

Excellent hotel with big and clean rooms. If you can get a rooms with the beach view. Great location, in front of the beach. Breakfast was good and staff was helpful. Money exchange on site.

It's very nice and good location to the beaches surrounds. It has a very nice ocean front views and walking to the beach within a second. It also has a nice rooftop and nice staffs.

Friend was staying there so I went to go visit. I have always walked past it and this was the first time I went inside, and it was amazing. It felt very fancy and luxurious and the Piano there was in good order. However, I felt it was unnecessary for the reception to need my ID before entering, despite the fact that I obviously did not look dangerous. However, it is a policy of theirs so I guess points for keeping that up. But seriously, if the guest wants to bring in a guest, it should be up to the guard's discretion to decide whether they're dangerous and worth being identified.

Right on Copa Cabana Beach, one of the nicer hotels there but rooms are very small and dated. Would have ranked lower but the staff was overly friendly. There is a small pool, balcony, and exercise room on the roof. Nice views up there of the whole strip on Copa Cabana Beach.

Excellent hotel, I have stayed here every time I have come to Rio. I love the staff, I love the food and rooms, the amenities are plenty, and the view is great. You are right across from the beach and you can take a cab anywhere! Many great places to eat and wonderful nightlife within walking distance.
