I arrived to hostel early in the morning because I took the night bus. But the guy in the reception told me I have to wait until 11am. Definitely not acceptable
Took a tour of hostel, rooms ,kitchen, social area, bathroom's, all extremely clean and well stocked.Staff very friendly and helpful!Looking forward to staying at Austria hostel, more later.Fantastic have met many world travellers!
Good hostel located in the historical center of La Paz.
Clean bathroom with hot water and toilets, kitchen at disposal and quite cheap for a shared room of 3 (45Bs)
I made myself a friend in this hostel :)
Great location, very clean, very good price, hot water. The best option if you are looking for something near the main square and quiet. (not a party hostel)
Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 9 nights in June 2017, in two different dorm rooms. This is probably the best value hostel compared to other prices in La Paz, however it still could improve. The two dormitories we stayed in had three beds each (although very hard mattresses), and we only had company for only one of the nights. Neither room had a proper window except one above the door to allow air flow, which meant that it was musty and almost permanently cold in there, especially when other guests left the door to the outside patio open. There is a kitchen which is sufficiently equipped (hard to find in La Paz apparently), although matches are guarded by the staff ridiculously. Hot water for the showers is powered by gas canisters but only one of them is almost always hot enough, and count yourself unlucky if the gas runs out mid-shower. Bathroom cleanliness is generally okay, except for the lack of soap. Our biggest complaint is probably the staff, two of which were just grumpy when asked anything and very strict about matches for the kitchen, lights in the common area being on after 10pm, and ignoring your room preference on check-in.
This is 1 of the cheapest places to stay in La Paz but considering the price it's pretty solid. It is in a reasonably central location. It has reasonable wi-fi which was easily the quickest wi-fi I had in any hostel in Bolivia in the month I stayed there. There was hot water in showers but as it was gas powered sometimes it didn't work so I had to switch bathroom.
There is a tv with about 100 channels and a computer you can use.
It's nothing luxury, the bedrooms are fine, the kitchen are fine but no more. The staff can be a mixed bag and sometimes didn't seem to know what rooms were free or not.
There is room for improvement but all things considered if I returned to La Paz I would return here.
The first room they offered me smelled terribly, the second was fine fragrance-wise. Both rooms were praised as sound-isolated, but this seems more like a joke of the hotel owners. In fact, I never had such a bad sleep because of noise than in this hostel, you literally hear everything. And I´m someone who has a very deep sleep. The hotel door is locked from 9pm onwards, so people have to ring sometimes for minutes before the guy which should be at the reception opens the door. Naturally, half of the hotel is awake by then. Same same for early arrivals, I slept two nights there and was woke up two times by noise at 6am in the morning. The 2nd morning I could fall asleep again, but then I was woken up at 7.30am by the cleaning lady which started to clean the room nextdoor. She found it totally normal. It would be ok in a "normal" hostel, but not in this one with walls out of paper. Maybe it´s not as bad in all rooms, find out on your own. The hygenical Situation is really bad, there is soap NOWHERE, and there are only shared bathrooms. Go figure. It´s maybe ok if you are really on a budget, want to cook on your own, and noise doesn´t bother you. And it´s really central, good spot for checking out la paz.
Nice place, relatively cheap (for its location). Rude staff.
Great deal. Staff was helpful. Three blocks from San Francisco church and two blocks to Plaza Marillo.
If it had private bathrooms it'll be just great. Locate near centre of Bolivia it offers good service enough for most tourists. You can use their kitchen and wifi works well even in the farthest rooms.
