Great collections of royal gifts. The museum is huge and maintained royally especially the chariots. Good experience. Museum closes at 6pm and the entry is free.

Huge Museum with many of the gifts to the Sultan, weapons and clothes. Also two very impressive state carriages used at different ceremonies are on display.
The entrance is free. Shoes must be left outside - shoe-shelves are available. Proper attire is essential to enter. Cameras and mobile phones must be left by the entrance. locker-boxes and coat/bag check are also available.
There is also a small gift-shop.
The staff of the museum is more or less friendly.
The museum is sort of a shrine for the emperor and his family. The wealth and the number of objects on display are impressive.
Its pretty cold (AC) inside - you may want to bring a jacket or light sweater.response / report this review -

Very informative history about Brunei's monarchy. It's a big museum and has a lot of content about the current His Majesty. It can get a bit tiresome halfway through as there can be unnecessary (irrelevant) information but overall it helps to understand how much the people of Brunei admire and love their Sultan. Also, it's a great way to get out of the tropical weather. A nice reprieve!
Please be aware that you will not be able to take photos unless you're in the main open area. You will also have to take your shoes off prior entering the building. And they will provide free lockers for your bags too.response / report this review -

The outer building itself is beautiful, with a wide dome in the Islamic style of architecture. There were a couple of misplaced signs which said "Entry, main entrance) pointing to sealed doors, the actual entrance has a shoe rack and a light up sign which says welcome over it. Shoes are to be removed on arrival.
On entry to the right there is a reception where name and nationality are registered in exchange for a locker key to put away phones and cameras (no photos allowed on entry and in the inner museum).
The museum itself begins with a history of the current sultan and continues on to some royal items and gifts from other nations or important persons/organisations.
There is a gift shop at the end with some locally made items, magnets and other such paraphernalia. At this stage pictures of the lobby may be take.response / report this review -

you can see the all royal artifacts here. Prohibited to take your phone to the gallery, but you can take a lot of picture inside the main hall. You can see the history of Brunei. The service was good, the guide also speak English well.

Definitely worth a visit. You can’t take pictures inside, only at the “lobby area”. You have to take off shoes and the floor is cold. So wear socks!

If you guys want to see and know any further details about our monarch and Brunei monarchy rules, you guys should come here. Dont forget to wear some socks cause its pretty cold inside.

Upon entering the place, you need to take off you shoes. You are only allowed to take photos in the lobby. When entering the museum (where the gifts are located), you will be requested to leave your things in a locker or leave it at the counter (if your things are quite big).
Taking photos inside the museum are not allowed.
The display inside were beautiful. But then I think it’s much better if they have guides around the place so that they could share a little about Brunei’s history.response / report this review -

A huge museum of things owned by the Sultan of Brunei. Of special note are the gifts from foreign heads of state. Definitely worth a visit when in Brunei. No pictures allowed.

You can spend a lot of time here. It's staggering to see the money spent on the Sultan, both in Brunei and the gifts from foreign nations. Go with a non-political mind. It's something to see. I've never walked through a museum in my bare feet before. Bring socks if you get cold easily. Small gift shop.

Basically a royal museum. Everything is about the sultan and royal family. They display the many gifts that the sultan has received from other countries. Not a must see but its an excuse to soak up some A/C on a hot day.

It is a museum of Brunei. It is free of charge to get in but cameras, phones were not allowed to enter. So no picture. You can find lots of different kind of history weapons from sword to gun. You will find the king history remarked as well.

A good understanding of the Royalty in Brunei and their culture. Plus, I used to visit the museum during my school days because of the air conditioning and to play hide and seek with my friends.
