Without knowing much about the history, it is hard to imagine why the church is so highly rated. It's not very big; in fact, it's small by church standards.

If you're into churches, this is a must see! Though I have to say most of the churches/mosques/temples are impressive in Sofia!

Personal favourite religious building of the city. The Russian church design is outstanding. Unfortunately it was built on a site where an Ottoman mosque used to stand.

Ever in a need, visit the tomb of st. Serafim. Write your meaningful and true desire. St. Serafim will support. Only a remark to foreign visitors - when in any orthodox church please come properly dressed and act with respect towards the people inside.
