You rarely see such places in Bulgaria. Most cult places are really modest from the outside. Beautiful icons inside, and even more beautiful copulas outside. It's always great seeing in when flying in to Sofia. You know that you're home :).

Mitko ,a Bulgarian Citizen told the deep History of Saint Alexander Nevsky cathedral. at first glance the amazing Golden dome hits you and when you go in , the awesome part starts revealing it .
The atmosphere inside was extraordinary .
    A Must see !

Nice church, free entrance. 10 Lev to take photos. Keeps the ticket out as I was stopped 4 times by 4 different men. Grumpy men too. Nice frescoes

Ok, it's big and has some history but only 19th century. But paying 30 lev (€15!!!) for filming and 10 lev (€5) for taking photos is too expensive. Personnel is very hysterical about it and demands you to show what you have photographed if you can't show a permit. They better warn and demand you to but an permit.

    Beautiful architecture in
Neo-Byzantine style and one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in the world! The symbol of the city!

For me this is the best place in Sofia. You really can feel the spirit of the city at that point.

The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral situated in Sofia is the biggest and most beautiful Orthodox cathedral in Bulgaria. With its gold-plated dome and 12 magnificently sounding bells, the cathedral is a real lendmark of the capital of Bulgaria. Inside the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is just as beautiful and can hold 10,000 people. The cathedral crypt is also worth visiting.

This Orthodox Cathedral is one of the biggest in Eastern Europe. A Bulgarian church dedicated for a Russian saint is rather strange but understandable considering the history between the two nations.

One of the most iconic places you can visit. It is actually a fully working church. Astonishing and breathtaking architectural achievement. It literally makes you feel humble while standing inside and staring at the ceiling. Prepare to be amazed!

If we could give it 10 stars or even a 100, we would. Its the landmark of Sofia - beautiful building. Hopefully the art inside will be restored one day soon.

This is one of the most magnificent buildings I've ever seen. I stayed in Sofia for 11 days and made sure to always walk by because it's unlike anything I've ever witnessed. The inside is also great, but they are very strict about noise and taking pictures.
