Impressive monument, being so high it also provides amazing views of the surrounding countryside. The parking and walking around is free but to go inside and climb to the top is a few levas, very inexpensive.

Also an interesting rock outcrop behind the tower that make for good photos.

If you are passing near by it is worth the visit!

The Shipka Monument is an important bulgarian historical landmark. It was made in honour to those who died for the Liberation of Bulgaria during the Battles of Shipka Pass in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78. The place is really magnifisent.

We spent a few hours climbing up to this impressive monument, walking around the mountain top and admiring the unobstructed views and it was well worth it. I regret not having a higher quality camera to take pictures with as this is one of the best locations in the country for that.
Make sure to have a hat and long sleeve shirt as well as sunscreen lotion as the sun can be quite strong during the day. Also bring water as the stair climbing can be a sweaty affair.
    Stunning location!

The symbol of freedom from Turkish slavery. Iconic monument for Bulgarians. A "must go to" location. Awesome panoramic view in clear day. Parking at the bottom of the 800 steps that take you to the monument.

I love monumental architecture. So should you. In some way it's waste of resources. But it's damn good place to waste them.

Fabulous views on a sunny day and you can drive/park pretty much at the bottom steps of the monument itself. Highly recommended.
