One of the best "city" parks in Bulgaria. The lake with the swans is just 30-40 minutes walking from the center,and the walk is very nice on one side you have the Bistritsa river and the forest on the other side. Just Amazing, I can take this walk any day, any season for the rest of my life.

If you visit it make sure to walk from the city to the lake and then around it, it takes around an hour in each direction but is a really nice and picturesque route.

Can be too crowded as the only proper park in the city. Locals have crazy parkinsonism skills.

It's really sad that the two black swans are chained to the lake, and only have a distance of roughly 5 metres to swim in. I saw one today trying to untie its mate by attempting to unpicking the knot in the rope that is buckled around their feet. I'm not sure if they're there as tourist attraction because maybe black swans are rare in Bulgaria?? It's really upsetting seeing animals being mistreated like this for the sake of tourism if this is the case. I can't see how it would benefit the swans in any way whatsoever, all I can see is potential strangulation of the swans when they become tangled in the rope. Is there animal welfare in Bulgaria? Who can I report this to?

THE Blagoevgrad park for family walks, for runners, bikes, roller blades, trotinettes, pets and kids -> lanes go through forest and pre-mountain hills. Good infrastructure wich allows diverse activities as sport alea, children grounds, rest and barbecu areas, lake with swans and ducks, coffee and cocktail bars, restaurants. Total distance of the lanes about 4-5km there and back, along Bistritsa river. Free Ropelandia in the trees with 6 levels of difficult for kids and adults (level 6 really hard:)
