Very nice place to visit when going to/return from Greece (about 20 km from the Bulgarian/Greece border). Beautiful landscape, old buildings and quality and affordable restaurants. We enjoyed every moment. You can buy a lot of souvenirs and domestic wine ( 4-5 euros per bottle).

"Melnishki piramidi " is most famous place for hiking near by village of Melnik where you can also enjoy at view of beautiful nature and "pyramids which are actually sandy hills
Good place for exploring but unfortunately not many marked paths.

Such a cute town, a must see if you are in the area! Its a steady climb up the hill but the winery's at the top are great! We went to one where we had to climb, climb climb, but after touring the historic house we got to tour the wine caves which was really cool! Lots of shops and restaurants to take a break along the way. The river was dried up in the late summer when we were there but its probably even more lovely in the spring when its flowing!
