I love the houses in the fantastic "old revival" style–a glimpse into another century. The compound is beautiful in autumn when the leaves are falling, but also probably in the snow!

This is a must visit place. It is a time machine, transporting you one or two centuries back to a simpler, cruder ans beautiful way of living. The place is quaint, the people friendly and id you need a traditional Bulgarian present that is hans-made, high quality and memorable then you will struggle to find a better place than Etara.

Authentic atmosphere, stunning nature, refreshing water , friendly staff. I recommend for family visiting. Great choice to avoid high temperature in summer.

Provides working examples of the machinery used to harvest the power of running water for the needs of different crafts. Very well preserved old houses and workshops and some of them still functioning the way they used to. Excellent traditional food. Children activities.

A really interesting day out featuring traditional crafts from Bulgarian history. Great traditional food offered at good prices in the restaurant too. Well worth a visit.

Picturesque, charming and old-fashioned. A definite must see in that part of Bulgaria this place offers a peak into the country's history.

Excellent food. Try the cafe in the ethnographic complex. My daughter kept teasing me with questions such as "So that's how you used to live when you were a child?" Met a nice man living in Brussels but with Kurdish origin who spoke both English and excellent Swedish to us. The description of how the water driven saw works is one of the funniest we've read.

The 'Etar' is a historical and national place where you can experience and see the old traditions, food and art of Bulgaria. I would recommend it as a must-see destination for the travel lovers. With its environment it takes you away to the old Bulgarian times. Entrance cost is cheap and kids get a discount. 😊✌🏻️
