A rather simple but powerful memorial to the defenders of Bastogne and to the Transatalanic Alliance. Wonderful site definitely worth a visit along with the nearby War Museum.

Very well done memorial. Lists of units on the sides and the states. On the top were maps at the points which showed where the various units were during the battle. No distractions and clear concise information.

Must see. Free entry for memorial. Its grand and impressive and perfect to teach kids. Also beautiful views on top with maps showing were the divisions and battles were.

Impressive monument, the name Mardasson comes from the hill supporting it.
It has been created in 1950 by Belgian people as a mark of recognition for the US heroic resistance during 1944 battle of the Bulge.
The dimensions of the monument create an emotional atmosphere given the history : the different US state are marqued in stone, including Hawaii and Alaska that were not part of USA during WW II.
It is possible to reach the roof to observe surrounding.

Don't miss the museum nearby, the Bastogne War Museum.

Visit anytime as it is a treat. Climb the stairs and visit all five points of the star to get a map of the battle in that direction. Read the story inside of the monument's columns to get an idea of the battle. Take a minute to consider everything before going to visit the wonderful town of Bastogne. This is a great starting or stopping point for any battlefield tours.
