Proper little department store of the sort that we used to have in the UK before it was decided on our behalf that we'd all be so much happier having to use the internet to buy shoddy crap churned out in Chinese sweat shops.

Really decent cosmetics department in which an elderly gentleman buttonholed me for ten minutes to explain, in rapid Flemish, the comparative merits of several of the products on sale. The fact that I did not speak a word of Flemish was no barrier to his narrative and, as I walked back out onto the street and the slightly chill but still friendly breeze reminded me where I was, I felt the world was a slightly better place for the experience.
