  Sitakot Vihara is an archaeological site located in Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh.[1] The site is locally known as the residence of Sita. Through regular excavations in the years 1968 and 1972-1973, an ancient Buddhist monastery was discovered in the site.[2] The monastery dates from a similar time period to the nearby Somapura Mahavihara and Halud Vihara.

  One of the historical place of 7th century. Which is situated in Dinajpur District nobabpur Upojela. Though local authority take no nessesary step to care and reserve the place. U may visit the place, But found nothing special which is written in history.

  এটি একটি প্রাচিন বোধ্য বিহার । যা একন প্রায় বিলুপ্তির পথে। তবে জাইগাটির পরিবেশ অনেক সুন্দর এবং মনোরম।
  এটি বিরাম্পুর শহর থেকে প্রায় ৩-৪ কিঃ উত্তরে আবস্থিত ।

  THE OLDEST BUDDHIST MONASTERY IN BANGLADESH.
  ROUTE: BIRAMPUR-NAWABGANJ ROAD AROUND 7-8 KM. ANYONE CAN HELP YOU TO FIND THE PLACE.
  EXCAVATION BEGAN 1965 TO 1975.
  
  LANDMARK: A PALM TREE INSIDE(ALMOST MIDDLE) MONASTERY. IT WAS BUILD IN 600-700AD. THERE ARE 41 ROOMS FOR BUDDHIST MONKS; EACH ROOM IS JOINTED BY A LONG BALCONY & THERE IS A SMALL PRAYER HALL. EACH ROOM HAS PRAYER VAULT FOR KEEPING BOOKS AND RITUAL ARTIFACTS.
  IT WAS ABOUNDED BY NATURAL REASON SO THAT NO SIGNIFICANT ARTIFACTS HAS BEEN FOUND. LOCAL PEOPLE BELIEVE MOTHER SITA WAS EXILED HERE FOR TEN YEARS; BUT IT WAS JUST A MONASTERY. NOW HINDU PEOPLE SET TEMPLE ADJACENT TO-WHO WILL FIGHT WITH BELIEVE OR GOD.

  nice old heritage place , i like it,I will visit this place to immerse in the wonderful and lovely vibrancy of this old heritage town at Birampur ,Dinajpur.
