Pathok Shomabesh has a decent collection of books. But the location is a little inconvenient for me. Plus the books are obscenely expensive. I purchased Atonement by Ian McEwan that I could have gotten someone else for a cheaper price.

Pathak Somabesh is working on developing a knowledge-based society. It is a place for book lovers. A place which is offering food for the mind. They have a huge collection of books. Interior is simply awesome. Books are well organized based on interest level.
Another important thing is they have well-behaved stuff who are ready to help anyone on their premises.

Huge book store just opposite aziz super super market in Shahabag.
It lets you read the books in different seating spots.
For club members, you can have coffee and a premium seating arrangement.

If you're a book worm looking to browse through fancy books this is the place. I'm afraid the overall book collection is not that great.
They're improving though, day by day.

The first among all this type of large book store in Dhaka. After Batighor in Chittagong we Dhaka dweller were eagerly expecting something like this. Now we are happy to get this. Thanks to Pathok Somabesh!

Pathok Somabesh came to big picture after they plan to publish Rabindra Rachanaboli with a pre-order booking money. They started it and so far it is the most largest collection of Rabindranath Tagore with hard paper and bindings. Beginning with 5K now the whole package is 30k so far I can remember.

The space is huge but I'm sorry to say still not enough to contain a average amount of book. They have a seating arrangement and reading book whatever one wants but book collection is not that good. Specially children book collection based on mostly English and from foreign publication.

Our own writer and poet could have got a special space and a digital live catalogue could be made.

But overall it's a dream place for book lovers.

Good place for hanging out with bookworms. Huge collection of original English books along with good collection of Bangali books.

The place is well lit and well arranged. However not enough space. Only 2 tiny square tables are available for reader. One among them is reserved for members. So, clearly it lacks seating arrangement.

On the worst side the books are overpriced. Even the small books are priced upto 1400 taka. Even considering the superior quality, the price is sky touching.

awesome place for any reader. this place is comfortable and rich in collection. the shelves are packed with Bangla books, as well as, English and translation literature. there's also a small collection of Bangla songs at one corner. they also sell paintings.
a reader can search according to his/her taste. there is plenty of space to sit and read. wash room facility is good.
negative side though is the price of the books. the original texts they import from foreign countries cost quiet a lot of money. for average readers, this might be a problem.

One of the best book stores in Dhaka. They have a huge collection of books, magazine, periodicals of home and abroad. They mostly sell English books of popular, world renowned writers. Also there are sitting arrangements to sit and read books comfortably. They take orders to bring books from foreign countries.
