With the financial help of noble donor Syed Hatem Ali and cordial effort of common people of all levels, along with the help of great educationists and district administration, Government Syed Hatem Ali College was established in 1966 at the heart of Barisal city beside Dhaka-Barisal highway. This college has been nationalized in 1986. This college is located at a place of natural beauty which has been enriched by lush-green trees. Since its establishment, the college is performing the noble task of creating talents. Each year students secure their position in the merit list of board and university. Such good result has been achieved by the joint effort of experienced and scholarly teachers and conscious guardians. This college has well equipped science laboratory, computer lab, rich library, large play ground, attractive academic buildings and large college hostels. The specialty of the college is that besides regular classes, the teachers arrange tutorial classes and exams, extra classes for weak students, yearly and half yearly exams, model test and other evaluation programs. An ambience of knowledge and wisdom has been created for all students. To encourage meritorious students who attain good result in board, universities as well as internal exams are awarded duly. Students are always encouraged to participate in various extracurricular activities like BNCC, Rover scout, Red Crescent, Annual sports, Debate club and other cultural programs. Guardians are always informed of the academic results of their sons and daughters. In the parents’ day, teachers and students attend a day long workshop and have discussion on various problems and both try to provide necessary support and solutions for each other.
