Background of the Establishment of the University:
As we are all well aware, the educational system in Bangladesh is quite a mess. The goal of education has become to obtain degrees by all means, fair or foul, in order to get a good job, hopefully, a government position. When the basic goal of education, the acquisition of knowledge is set aside, deterioration is bound to set in and corruption takes a firm foothold. Education is too precious a commodity for our coming generations to be left to reap such negative fallouts. If the educational system is not improved in the country, we will be left behind and the happiness and future prosperity of our people will be at stake. It is not to say that efforts have not been made to improve the standards of education but these efforts have been few and far between. Most of the good reforms have never been allowed to come to fruition.
From the very beginning, Britannia University has been following the policy of not treating education as a commercial product, and is firmly committed to serve the society without having any commercial motive, whatsoever. Creation of Britannia University was a visionary decision in the face of ever increasing demand for updated specialized education in Bangladesh. With the phenomenal rise in enrollment coupled with quality of education, Britannia University will be comparable with the best universities in Bangladesh and abroad.

The goal and aim of Britannia University is to provide higher education to students of Bangladesh at an affordable cost, keeping in view the challenges of the twenty first century. And this mission will be achieved by imparting world class education and providing research facilities so that the students can attain their full intellectual, social and personal potentials.
Understanding the impotency and value of higher education to build a happy and thriving Bangladesh, a group of dedicated educationists and enthusiasts discussed the prospects of establishing a private university that would uphold the torch of knowledge and would pursue quality education in a quiet, knowledge-based, trouble-free and genial academic environment. Britannia was established under the Private University Act 2010 duly approved by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and the Ministry of Education, Government of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh on 16th November, 2012 for awarding degrees in various fields.
We are constantly investing in our campus and facilities to ensure all students have a world-class teaching and learning environment, state-of-the-art facilities and enhancing the vibrancy of the campus experience to make students time in BU truly one to relish. The University is located at the Comilla town at Paduar Bazar, until permanent facilities are built. As per private University Act 2010, the University will be shifted to a permanent campus within 5 (five) to 7 (seven) years duration. At present the university conducts its activities in the rented building where approximately the total floor space is 25, 000 sq. ft. very near from the main campus another 10 storied building about 6, 800 sq. ft. It is preparing for Gymnasium and Teachers dormitory accommodation. Under a 4 storied building.
Britannia University has intended to tear 2 six storied buildings for male students and another for female students. University Authority will also create necessary facilities there for maintaining the education environment. Thus students will also get the residential essence. For successful operation of those hostels, University may extent these facilities.response / report this review -

The Britannia University focuses on the quality of the student experience; innovative curricula are designed to meet the market needs in today’s rapidly evolving and technologically advanced world. It is modeled on British & North American Universities. The curricula of each program proposed by BU are reviewed by the experts of UGC and then duly approved by UGC. The curricula are regularly reviewed and updated to include latest developments in each area of study and adapted to the current requirements and local needs. BU open a program only after due approval by UGC. Enormous skilled and experienced recruited faculty will combines disciplinary expertise and instructional mastery; to accomplished administrative team oversees both learning and teaching processes while facilitating and fostering student progress. Britannia University’s Flexibility, accessibility and academic distinction will be the hallmarks of Bangladesh.
